Could you spec me a headset that is:

Suitable for gaming
Has a mic (of course)
Anti-Tangle
and a volume control if possible

The only reason i request Anti-Tangle is because ive had two headsets break from snapped wires :(

Thx

Steelseries 5H.

Great headset, retractable mic, tough cable ( like the cable on a LogitechG5 mouse ), has a mic on/off and volume control built in on the mic.

Forget headsets, they will all break apart from the best ones or those manufactured by sennhesier for example. Steelseries, fataiti1tyty, icemat ones are all cheap tat in my eyes, made by mousemat makers who don't have any real pedigree in the sound engineering field.

What is your budget then we can get some recommendations going. But check out the goldring and sennheiser headphones at ocuk and then add on an elara clip on mic that you can just stick to the top of your monitor. Voice will work fine and the stereo headphones will sound amazing compared to these skanky headsets.

^^This.

Check out the other posts made by people wanting headsets, they all go the same way. Get a pair of decent stereo headphones, I'd recommend goldrings or senns and add a clip on mic, the elara gets a good review around here. Like above, unless your sepnding a lot of money on a headset, you can get much better for your money going with the above recommendation.

I am trying to stay cheap (less than £50) so i dont think ill be able to get headphones and a clip-on mic

Rather than start a new thread, can i chime in and add that i'm looking for 3 headsets for my kids.
Primarily it will be for voice chat; teamspeak or similar when gaming.
Would THESE be ok do you think?

Remember i need 3 sets, so sub £15 a set would be nice. They don't have to be professional grade obviously.

Thanks :)

As Goldring DR100 only cost £36 and an Elara clip-on mic only costs £5 that would actually leave you some change from £50.

AS that man has said, good headphones for the price and a clip on mic. Better than any poor 5.1 headset :D

Should be fine for the kiddies.

But I would recommend the sennheiser orpheus headphone systems, 3 of them. Probably add up to about £15k but your kids would love you forever ;)

yeah, primarily it will be for dissing their mates via TS whilst playing COD4. So as long as the headset can handle a 14 year olds profanity then they should be ok! :)

I was in the same boat. Just ordered a pair of Goldring DR-150's an Asus Xonar D2 Soundcard and although i'm still looking for something a little better. I'll probabaly end up grabin the clip on mic.

Any ideas with regards of the quality of sound. I know some mics are a lot better than others. . . .

I'll post the outcome when ive got everything.

I've had the medusas, razer barracudas and some logitec *****. . .

so i was in the same boat as you. wasn't sure to go for the DR-100's or 150's. Don't even know if there's a big difference.

I'll post anyway when I have tested them.

The Elara mic is very clear, better than the mic on my Senn PC130, and the Elara is sitting on top of my monitor which is 3ft away.
