Yup, Palit Sonic edition. Nice card

Sapphire, on the other hand, is not.

Palit hit 760/1200 on nothing. I just put it in slot, boot, tried the sliders, and worked without even changing the volt.

What voltages are you on now have you just done the pencil mod or have you modded the bios too? it you pencil the mem voltage and the gpu or just the mem?

1.04v IDLE 1.39V LOAD

I pencil modded only the core, the memory is untouched. And I modded the bios too in order to get lower idle voltages. It's set to .8-something in the bios, lowest setting...so that when I apply the pencil mod I get a nice low idle

It's with the highest voltage i could select in the bios with RBE which was 1.158

Doesnt it drive you nuts with the noise? I was just messing around with mine, I havent really bothered with OC on this rig, and I cant stand the noise above 40%.......

No not at all, my speakers drown it out when i'm gaming.

Its silent for day to day use, 38% @ 50C.
For a single slot cooler it does its job well.

im quite suprised how many people have done the pencil mods and the bios flashes too

im very tempted to both myself but my rig is on must have the time so need to find some time to take it appart and do

Crossfired 4850's
1 x HIS IceQ 4
1 x Sapphire
Both at 700/1120(Bios flashed, 1.158v load)

Pencil modded previous Sapphire card but instantly borked it in the process (6B pencil used, and lots of it!) so not too keen on trying it again with this replacement card. Play everything fine (except Crysis of course) so won't be pushing them any further, yet.

You MUST have a multimeter to check resistance changes when modding. Otherwise you are just doing it blind!!!
