Goodbye City-Link, hello DHL

I have had two timed deliveries from them this week (not from OcUK) and all I can say is what an excellent choice.

Citylink were unbelievably bad in my area so this is welcome new. Think I'll be getting my HTPC bits and bobs soon and was concerned about relieable home delivery.

Glad OCUK have done this as I was forced in the past to shop elsewhere as Citylink were criminally poor here in West London. Took them 5 attempts to deliver a Windows Vista DVD and each time they insisted they carded me but did not and could not even name my door colour this was even an express delivery service!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

NOT DHL!!!

They're fine, like all the other couriers I've had experience with! :D

I like the sound of being able to call the driver to rearrange delivery, that's new to me. Good stuff.

Never really had a problem with city link. But DHL has a good reputation. I'll find out Tuesday... The free shipping is the more important bit and brings OcUK back into price competitive area. Be interesting to know if sales and/or forum registration and posting has gone up since it's implementation.

So how does @home work. do you select a time on the checkout page, do they phone you. Is it still a slot but a smaller window like 2hours?

People can still get stuff delivered to work. Nothing's changed there. It's just that deliveries to home can now take place up to 9pm and they will be delivered by someone who always delivers to residential addresses.

Oh one more thing - if the goods don't get delivered the driver doesn't get paid. This should stop the phontom-carding problem experienced with City-Link.

Good, on both counts.

Sounds like a very inefficient delivery service to me, do their drivers sit around doing nothing all day waiting for people to call and re-arrange delivery.

Should have gone with parcel force, cheaper and has the added bonus of being able to leave parcels at the local post office usually less than a mile away.

Hmm, I can't seem to get free shipping. I've successfully set up my account and linked it with my account here, but I don't get free DHL as an option. RM 1st class shows as free, but not DHL next day.

I had no problem with Citylink back in the UK, in fact I got to know the regular guy and he would white his mobile number on the card and pop back to deliver if I missed him. DHL aren't bad either, never had a problem with them, must be the German efficiency :)

I can't say my first order using the DHL Saturday has been great. I've been in all day today waiting for my order and it's been a no show. No card, No Phonecall.

Nothing...

Not the fault of OCUK, but not a good start either...
