I've just been browsing a forum I frequent (not the one I'm about to link to) and the users on there have been discussing mixing two stroke oil with their diesel.

Click me to read 9 pages of discussion..

I've never heard of anyone doing this before, so thought I'd best post this up before trying it out myself :p

Yay or nay?

EDIT - Just to clear this up... I'm asking about mixing a small amount of 2 stroke oil with the diesel that my engine drinks. Not putting 2 stroke oil into my sump.

2 stroke oil is very resistant to combustion, so other than clogging up the injectors, ****ing the CAT, and making it smell like a scooter, I don't see the point. Diesel already lubricates, 2 stroke fuel doesn't, which is why it's used.

Think it used to be used in old diesels in very cold weather, stopped it from freezing.

what
2 stroke oil is only used to lubricate, a 2 stroke engine would seize up without it

and it isnt resistant to combustion, if the mix is right it all burns off

There is, it's called petrol, or methanol, or whatever else you might be using to power your 2 stroke.

Point is regular (solvent like) fuel won't lubricate, and so needs oil when used in a 2 stroke, diesel is an oil, and so already lubricates the fuel system of your 4-stroke sufficiently itself.

Most of the 2 stoke oil isn't combusted, it's vaporised.

lol
its not called 2 stroke fuel though is it, its called petrol
and the guy was on about 2 stroke OIL added to diesel not unleaded fuel added to diesel

Well.. no definate answer on the 2 Stroke adding then :p

TaKen, any progress on an intercooler!?

Hi bud, well... I've got all the HDi 110 lump stuff (duck bend, hoses etc) but have kinda paused the intercooled right now, the car is currently mapped to 125 and is plenty quick enough.. but the clutch is on the way out and I need to replace the Aux belt and tensioners.

So I'm going to leave it until the weather is good next year,
