Anyone aged 20 living at home. How much rent do you pay?

If I was living at home I'd be paying for stuff.

I know that my dad is upgrading his car soon, so I've just paid back about £400 I've been leant for various things at various points this year.

Nothing as it would take me longer to move out, as I wouldn't be saving as much.

Exactly the same here, I was saving like mad during my early years of work, never splashed out on much at all really and my parents never charged me a penny.

I would / will try and instil the same mentality with my children.

£35 a week.. Im 19 on an apprenticeship though not earning a lot, i pay the amount that the council tax went up when i moved in with my mum though to help her out, plus im out all weekend every weekend at my mates so to be fair, thats quite fair, i help fill the washer with clothes, i help get rid of food that she needs rid of, i do a lot around the house, i maintain it and keep it clean, so she really cant complain, especially as my bone idle sister does sweet FA.

I used to pay £20 a week when i was in an apprenteship but since im back at college and finding it hard to get a local job they dont charge me anything. I've handed my application in so many places the last few weeks.

Think i have an interview at competitor* for xmas work :D.

How much do you get paid per month, roughly?

Irrelevant. I know for a fact that it is not financially feasable for me to move out. It would be 'possible' for me to rent a very small flat or something, but why would I want to? At the moment I live in a nice size house with good food, living conditions and people. I would certainly be no better off renting inferior accomodation.

At the moment living at home is the best option as I can save a shed load of money which I can use to buy a house in a few more years. Until then I'm very happy living at home.

£200, which I upped from £100 when I got a better job.

It would be nice not to have to pay, but that wouldn't be fair. To those who don't pay, enjoy it while it lasts. :D

Lets say you're earning minimum wage, that's around £600p/m after tax. That's more than enough to rent a small place and get by.

I'm not having a go, I just find it fairly shocking that anybody would be willing to pay over 150 notes to live with their folks. For ~£75 more you could have your own place. I also find it difficult to believe that you're parents are charging you that much (although I suppose it may depend on the circumstances).

My gf and I are living with my parents, since we've landed back from n.america after living abroad. We're both currently unemployed. We don't pay my parents a penny. Even so, it's driving us up the wall - and we both get on very well with my parents. As soon as we get jobs we'll be out. Living on you're own is far superior to living out of your bedroom with your folks breathing down your neck - although as long as you aren't paying them more than £100 odd for rent, then it's obviously a good option for saving money, especially if you're single. But it sounds like you're paying through the nose mate.

Not me, but the lad that works with me is 22, and is earning just under 60k a year and paying £130 a month rent, jammy git!

He is saving for his first house on his own though, so his parents rather he saved than give it to them.
