I've been with UKOnline for year (4 years +).

I started off on a £40 for an 8mb line (I get around 500k download, so not really 8mb).

However looking at their site these days the equivalent package is sold at £20. This isn't a sudden change, i've known it's been at that cost for quite a while.

Has anyone had experience with asking an ISP to lower the cost to todays value? I'm well outside of the 1 year contract :p

When I was with them I noticed a few month after it dropped in price. So I rang them, and they gave me some rubbish about they emailed everyone about it. And that everyone had to reply as they are not allowed by law to alter the payments.

Anyway they lowered my payments, and I did not have to sign up to a new contract. And you can keep your existing speed, and not be lowered to 16 meg.

i rang virgin about my tv and BB costing me £50+ a month and said i was thinking of going to sky lol
i now get £25 knocked of the bill every month and have done for the past year :)
its list on the bill as -£25 loyalty BB/phone and tv sky lol

Your paying £35 a month for a 500k connection

and now you even want to pay £20 a month for a 500k connection

are you a mug ?

I think when he says 500k he means 500kb/s download rate which is equivalent to about 5mb.

And i think you mean KB/s :P little b's is bits big B's is bytes

If you are getting 500kbps on an 8meg line you should ask to be downgraded to the cheaper 2meg option or get ADSL2+ for more speed.
