Max Payne. The Movie

You've just opened a huge can of worms. We did this to death in the thread when it first came out.

Suffice to say the people that like the new Indi film are the same people that like Resident Evil 2 & 3 and Terminator 3. Many would argue they have crap taste in films, an opinion I'd agree with. I don't have a problem with people enjoying these films for what they are but I do have a problem with directors making a mockery of the films that preceded them.

I think most people fail to realise they are actually a decade or two older than when they first saw it.

Everything about the new Indy film was the same as the originals, the feel the pace, the exploration and the fantasy ending. The only thing that changed was Nazi -> Communist.

Thing that didn't mix with me was the fact that Indys son apparently had the passive ability to communicate with monkies and enlist them as aid in a fight.

I hated it tbh

(Yes i know i'm off topic, but the can was already open!)

Afraid not. This new film had none of the magic that the other three had and was ruined with the over use of CGI, juvenile action scenes, questionable acting and the departure from traditional fantasy to science fiction.

Like I said I don't have a problem with people enjoying these films but I do have a problem with them ruining established franchises. I'm a huge fan of the originals and while I'm willing to accept this would have a hard time living up to my expectations, I wasn't expecting to be treated like a 12 year old.

CGI chipmunks, lead fridges that protect you from nukes, tree swinging with monkeys, driving off a cliff onto a tree branch, amphibious car crashes that leave you holding the steering wheel laughing, dun dun durrrr the skull is the same as the skull in the cave painting; it's just insulting to think that an adult audience that appreciated the first three movies would find this kind of thing appealing. It's like they looked at the first three films and thought "right look how much money was made out of Star Wars by making new films aimed at kids and using loads of CGI, lets do the same thing here!".

Come on George, even my 13 year old son came up with a better plot than this. Picture George Lucas (credited as sole writer for this fiasco) sitting at his computer/typewriter at 2am faced with a particular dilemma. Mmmm...let's see, the hero and his posse are racing through the jungle in vehicles with the bad guys and gals in hot pursuit when suddenly the younger supporting character gets separated from the others by being thrown into a tree full of monkeys. Question: how and the heck do I get him back to the main group? (Takes a sip of brandy along with a handful of Geritol) Wait, I know, he'll simply swing along the vines with the chimps. Plop right into the friendlies vehicle while said monkeys plop into the enemy vehicle and wreak havoc! Brilliant! Uh, George, let's make a little effort next time.

:D

Just seen this. After reading all the negative reviews and hearing everyone slate it. It wasnt as bad as i thought.

Its a film you need to see if you havent played the games. Then play the games. Simply because the games are awesome... and are better than the film.

I went to see this last night and was quite disappointed by it.

They missed out so much detail, didn't focus on the important bits and the whole lot was over far too quickly. The scenes just flew by... it was all over the place.

The whole Jim Bravura thing had me a bit  too. I absolutely loved the game, but the film was a let down.

Yes because all the previous Indy films have been so damned realistic. Yes that mine train chase in Temple of Doom, that obeyed all the laws of physics didn't it!

Get a grip z0mbi3, the Indy and Star Wars films were always aimed at kids (which at least I was - and not even born for A New Hope) why are people so surprised the new ones are? Its like being surprised that the sun appeared in the east this morning!

At least the scenes in the first three films were believable within the realms of fantasy that they'd laid out. It wasn't a stretch to suspend disbelief during any of the action scenes in the first three, where as the new one was totally unbelievable.

I'd hazard that with all the CGI available children are easier to please than they were 10-15 years ago. Directors, writers etc get lazy or just plain stupid with their narrative as they think the action can carry it. Maybe fine if your a child or just easily pleased but that doesn't wash with everyone.

You put Lucas infront of any well established franchise and let him do what he wants you can guarantee he's going to butcher it and that's exactly what he did with Indy. That's my opinion, and as far as this film is concerned no one can make me think any different.

The director and scriptwriter deserve to be shot; I can't believe they ruined the story like that! If you have a good story, why change it?

Really enjoyed it; only ever played the game demo, so I don't know the original storyline and went there with a neutral point of view.

I thouhgt it was ok, it wasn't fantastic but i enjoyed it enough to stay and watch it. Really felt like watching The Punisher.

I'd recommend the punisher over it anyday but i liked it.

It was ok.
but it needed more bullit time and what the hell point was there with the angels or the army guy. Lot of the film seem pointless to me, Enjoyed the action but there was not enough of it.
