Right now I kinda realise this might be a silly question but i just want to be sure, So at night after i powerdown my pc from windows and it shuts off I then switch off the extension lead it is plugged into at the plug socket and i was just wondering if this could have any negative effect on the psu as I see that the psu has its own on off switch which i never turn off??

So basically can i do any damage by cutting the power to the psu without flicking the power switch on the psu even thou i have powered down the system ?

I have my PC, my monitor, speaker system, external hard disk and printer running off an extension lead, and I kill em every night with the main socket switch. Never had any problems.

Same here too, pc, monitor ect run of a surge protector extn lead, once I have shutdown I switch off at the plug socket.

I don't even bother shutting my pc down, just flick the master switch on my 8gang power adapter to turn everything off at once before I leave for work.

Been doing that for ages, never had a problem.

i dont bother switching power off at wall... prob should.. my mum still does it when she visits... really confuses me.. always think my comp is broken :(

Slightly off topic ... but my brother thinks i spend to much time on the computer.. so when he was going away for the weekend he took the fuse out of the plug!!! I had to laugh when i found out the cause for it not working though .

 good luck with that.

Hope you back up frequently

I've got one of those 'Auto Off' surge protector extension thinngys... when the main socket powers down (the PC its self) and is no longer drawing power the socket powers down the other sockets automatically... then when I power up the PC again they all come on again automatically!...
