A question for the musically talented people in here.
I used to play electric guitar badly when i was younger. And now i have a bass.
again that im not that good at.

Which do you think is the best to learn to get good quick?

Obviously bass because you only have to play one note at a time usually.
Of course people are now going to link to absolutely amazing bass players on You Tube that make Steve Vai sound like a beginner.

Bad muting on bass souds aweful though - you have to make sure your playing 1 note...

I wouldn't say you can get good quickly on either. It's an instrument, put in the time or don't bother at all.

Saying that, learning a few chords on guitar is probably easier than learning to properly fret and finger-pick a bass.

Bass, purely for the one note at a time point - although a bass guitarists role in a band usually has a very different role musically compared to other strings instruments, you have to concentrate much more on what the drummer's doing than the keyboards/other guitars/vocals whereas this is often the case with electric. Fisk nailed it saying that both are instruments and neither is easier in the grand scheme of things.

Got to absolutely totally 1000% disagree.

If I had a beginner in front of me I'd have them very quickly playing the root notes of a riff on bass than trying to get them to play the chorded riff on a guitar.
