Is it worth of money and performance to change it?
My mobo is Asus P5W DH Deluxe fsb 1066/800MHz so basically this is only one choice. Or maybe some of the c2d will be still better?
What do you think?

Below my specifications:
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
c2d 6400 2.13 ghz
4 gb geil 800 mhz
Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 200GB

Hiya PeterB, unless you use applications that take advantage of more than 2 cores or are a heavy (Emphasises the word heavy :p) multitasker then you won't notice the difference between the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 and the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 since they are clocked at the same speed of 2.4GHz. What I would suggest though is to maybe have a go at overclocking the CPU that you currently have which should yield a nice performance boost in, well pretty much everything you do on your computer. :)

thanks,
basically i play a lot of games (such as crysis ,far cry 2, cod 5 etc), so maybe you're right just try overclock little bit ;-). i have some spare money and i was thinking to buy something "fresh". ;-)

quick question. yesterday i overclock to stable 3 ghz. i changed fsb from 266 to 375x8. Everything good except the high speed/noise of the fan - i have arctic cooling freezer 7.This is normal?

Seeing as you have an ASUS board the CPU voltage is probably on Auto. It is probably giving your CPU more than it needs thus making it very hot.

I'd set it manually to 1.3V and see if that is stable. If not, increase a little at a time.

PS... you might want to think about changing that PSU... they have a bit of a reputation around here.

The fan does speed up when the CPU is under load so an increase in noise is to be expected.
