Anyone got a spare old Sky card?

I've just moved into a place with a Sky dish and cabling and the guy left his old digibox as he doesn't need it anymore.

It all works fine but I can't seem to get Channel 4 or
5 or Channel 4 + 1. I Googled around and I think I need a Sky viewing card (just any old one) which I know I can pay Sky £20 for but I'm 100% skint and just wondered if any of you guys had a spare one?

I'm driving from Norwich to Brighton on Thursday so could even pick it up and give you a quid?!

I'm not expecting much but it's worth a shot!

Thanks.

You don't need a viewing card. Go to add channels. Type in the values found here: http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?question=channel4&Submit=Zap i.e.Astra 2D (28.2E) - 10714.00 H - Txp: 41 - Beam: Astra 2D DVB-S (QPSK) - 22000 5/6

and then press the yellow button on the channels it finds. Then you can choose them from the other channels menu.

Obviously search for the other channels and key in the details.

I think a viewing card will provide you with channel numbers, so you don't have to pick them from the menu though, unless that was some kind of limitation on the sky box i did this on the other day...

there;s the deatils for FIVE : Astra 2D (28.2E) - 10773.00 H - Txp: 45 - Beam: Astra 2D DVB-S (QPSK) - 22000 5/6

Oh ok I'll give that a try when I get back. Does this also work for Sky3?

I thought it was because 4&5 were scrambled and FTV not FTA (or something?!)

no if you read that website i linked, sky 3 is encrypted, but 4 and 5 are clear (unencrypted) If you get a card, you MAY be able to decrypt sky3 but I don't know and wouldn't care.

Channel 5 is encrypted, so you are not correct in this respect and you will need a FTV card

I admit I don't have my receiver set up to test this just now.
