Anyone know of a free anti virus scanner?

I am currently using the avg (anti virus guard) 8.0 free edition. It is not that good. I do complete scans and they find nothing. But I am sure I have a virus on my comp. I have also heard from people that avg is not very good at spotting certain virus kinds.

Anyone know of anything else free that is real good. I just want to scan my computer and then perhaps install vista!

Then why don't you just wipe the OS and install Vista? That would be sure to get rid of any virus you have.

avast is good, but if you cant be bothered installing anything

try kaspersky online scanner, its pretty good

I'd go with Avast. Also, I agree with Mattus- why not just wipe the whole HDD and do a fresh clean install?

When you decide on what you will do, be sure to have some sort of spyware/malware scanner too- spybot is a good one. And just to make sure your computer is running squeaky clean, google ccleaner
