Stretching (Ears)

It's permanent disfigurement. Go ahead and be my guest, but if I would eventually be the boss or manager of where you want to work, I would turn you away. I wouldn't be the only one. If you 'like it' that's tough, I hope the trade offs are worth it! Why don't you go and look at the last century or so, where popular fads have come and gone - do you really think lobe modifications and such will last as long as you want it to? They're no different to the flares and hairstyles of the 60s which look shocking today, or the mullets of the 80s.

You can get a haircut, and you can buy new clothes, but good luck trying to justify your ridiculous ears and your screwed up face in 2020.

peircing has been around for thousands of years it's hardly a fad, yes it's more commonplace today, but the actual process and act of body modification has in various forms been around for a very long time.

I got my first peircing at 16, i'm 24 now and have been adding to my collection fairly consistently ever since then, i've only ever gone through one period of unemployment and that was health related, i've never had trouble getting a job.

I can't guess exactly where you work, but I hope it wouldn't be rude to say it probably isn't a high flying corporate firm with black suits and ridiculous application requirements.

There isn't a chance you would get away with ear 'holes' in some areas of work. If you don't work in one of these areas, then it isn't a problem.

Well it depends what area you're in really, the higher ces agents will liase with our clients and some of these staff members are peirced, have dyed hair etc, in a nutshell they're not your typical corporate types. My employer tends to place the value on your work rather than your looks, which is sensible as, imho, your looks shouldnt/wouldnt have any correalation to your work ethic.

In my general experience though, in terms of having had both front of house and back of house jobs my peircings have never really been a problem, most businesses allow retainers and the majority of peircings once healed can be left out for a shift with no ill effect.

Now in all fairness I do accept that this isn't the case in all businesses and I do appreciate that some places would turn me away for how I look.
