Hi,

I currently got Sky+ connecting to a panasonic viera plasma via shielded scart.

Picture quality is good but have seen this Bt Vision that has hdmi output.

Would the picture quality definitely be better on the BT Vision as it will be connected via hdmi or does sky have more bitrate?

Matt

HDMI will make next to no difference. Sky+ is a better product than BT's current offering.

I once did a test for a customer of mine. I setup an Amstrad DXR-100 (one of, if not the first Sky Digital receivers) connected via scart against a Sky HD box connected with HDMI and could note no difference on SD content.

This was done on a 40" Samsung 1080p LCD

Thats good to know actually cause i was gonna get a Sky HD box in the hope that my SD picture will improve more.

I recently went from a Sky+ via scart to Sky+HD via HDMI and the difference in sd was quite noticeable.

What TV? It's basically down to if the Sky HD's scaler is better than that in the TV. Most good spec. tellys this is now not the case but was a couple years back.

Not sure I agree with that. We got BT Vision as a freebie when we took an internet package. The upscaling to 720p on SD channels gives a much better image than Sky+ over Scart, when viewed on our 720p LCD.

Not as good as the upscaling on SD channels via Sky HD though.

Sky is the better all round package though, no question of that.

TV is a Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80 with picture overscan turned off, Sky+HD set to output at 720p using the hdmi lead that came in the box.
