home after 6months at last!!!

Christ, sounds like a right ordeal. How are you feeling at the moment? Are you mobile?

learning to walk and having my leg in a fixator(metal),about 8 weeks of cast and a bandage , the only thing is i have to wear glasses to read, and i cant move my arm more than 10 degrees at the right elbow and my 2 outer right fingers contract ok but i struggle to extend them. left hand is just scars and i cant extend my little finger - apparently i pulled the pins in my hand out with my teeth!!!!! ouch!!!!!

weirdly enough i sometimes have problems with memory

Does that mean you don't remember that tenner you owe me? :p Just my little joke.

Seriously though I'm sure we must have crossed paths on here a few times so all the best and glad you're on the mend.

do you want short version or my version??

take one motorbike crash into a van...
add me and the driver (unharmed i think)
add 3+ breaks to bottom of left leg, pin in left thigh, broken left arm/wrist/hand (+ pins), shattered right arm, damaged nerves on right, 2 broken bones in face and pin in hip and metalwork in right elbow,oh and bruised brain,+ 2 x collapsed lungs and about 30hrs surgery + about a week of my mum being told they have less than 24 hrs with me. i have to wear glasses to read due to my broken bones which 'might' go away, and i need 1 more op to remove bone growths from right arm.

is that enough detail?

holy crap, sounds painful :(

was it your fault ?

Ouch, and well done on your recovery. Takes a strong mind dude. Did you have a Mrs at the time?, how did that pan out?, and friends?. very odd situation for you to be in (and for the people around you too.. More the memory loss than anything).

At least you didn't catch MRSA :D.

no, i'm single. last mrs was czech and shes gone home. dad died in an rta and mum broke her back 5 years ago so she counts herself as lucky to stilll have me!!

when i left today all the nurses without exception said i was one of the nicest and most determined patients theyve had the pleasure of looking after!!

Hi mate, remember you owe me £5k? :D

Ah man this is bad, yet also great you're alive! Best of luck with your recovery

Ouch mate, sounded like a horrific accident (wel durr!) I know what you mean about leaving hospital and going back home though. About 10years ago i was admitted to hospital for kidney failure and i spent about 6months solid in hospital then another 6 constantly in and out, hell i could almost do my own blood tests by the time i was out! (Bearing in mind i was 11-12yrs old :D)

Just thought i'd use this opportunity to praise the NHS and hospital staff in general seeing as they get so much flak nowadays, i'll always be greatful to Southampton hopsital :)

I dont think you can imagine how bad something like this can be until you have actually expeirenced it, congratz for pulling through though matey.

I was in a car crash a few weeks ago but came off very lightly due to the Megane being a very safe car, had we been in a Saxo I think I would have come off a lot worse.

trying to explain to people why you feel like you do and how can sometimes as frustrating as the accident. you know you're poorly but it's trying to express it!!!

Smiles are good.
read two threads and so glad see that your on your way back.
I'm sure you've head it every day for the last 6 months but hope you can now see that its true

Sounds like you have had a nasty time! Hopefully you will recover nicely over the months/years. Are you going to ride a bike again? Best of luck phil
