I realise that the nokia n95 8gb has 8 gig of storage space, however is this not just storage space rather than actual memory. the nokia n95 has the sd slot but ignoring that, it comes with stanalone 126meg of internal memory. I have always beleived there is a differece between storage and memory. I guesss what i mean to say is does the nokia 95 8gb version have the 126meg internal memory as well as its inbuilt 8gig storage device.

the 126mb you're talking about is the storage space, the original n95 has 64mb RAM

Taken from wikipedia:

Internal Dynamic Memory (RAM) 128 MB (64 MB for N95-1)
Internal Flash Memory 160 MB (8 GB for 8GB versions)

The original N95 has...
64mb ram
130mb or so internal memory
whatever size memory card.

The N95-8GB has...
128mb ram
130mb or so internal memory
8GB 'memory card' (it's essentially just a memory card, but stuck permanently inside the phone).

Ah so the 8gig version actually has double the internal memory of the n95. The penny has dropped many thanks to you both.

Yes, and that 128mb RAM in the 8GB was an absolute LIFE SAVER as the original N95 constantly ran out of RAM, automatically shutting programmes down, browser giving errors of 'out of memory' etc. It basically should never have been released with only 64mb ram. The 8GB version solved all of that completely.

The new firmwares help out a lot.
I upgraded a mates N95-1 a week ago, jumped from v10 to v30 something firmware.
One heck of a performance difference, even in normal operations like viewing the menu's.

Its the paging feature that was released on the 8Gb, and added to the original via FW that makes the difference tbh.

Hmmm I've never had that on my 1st gen N95 apart from when I had a big ngage game running, web browser and gallery. That's the only time it said I couldn't open something else because there was no RAM left, and that I had to close something else first.
Always had the latest firmware on it though
