Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Something I'll be renting, not always been a big fan of fighty games apart from street fighters and MK. I just want to try using batman to beat the crap out of Scorpion

Was just looking at this on an online retailer, the xbox is £29.99, where as the ps3 is £34.99 or £39.99 for the CE which gives - Kollector's Edition includes steelbook, 16-page comic and Alex Ross poster.

However not sure if i would buy it, was a big fan of the earlier games, 1-3, would really like a demo of the game 1st on both systems to see which looks and plays better espically since im strapped for cash to spend on myself due to christmas pressie buying.

Edit: opps forgot to say im not sure how they would implement superman into the game, his only weakness is kryptonite so how the hell could you beat him up?

I find myself bored and intrigued by the 80% ish review scores this is getting.

Not been many decent beat-em ups this gen so far tbh, VF5 was OK, SC4 was not my cup of tea, and SF4 is next year.

I know this game will be crap tbh, yet the superheroes element excites me.

i dont think realism is the main concern in any beat em up, especially one like mortal kombat...

Not true, he also has a weakness against magic... so MK characters can easily beat him up :)

Aye, Superman is invincible in the physical sense but kryptonite and magic is his Achilles heel.

I just realised there is no Kobra in this MK game :( Kobra kicks is the macdaddy...

If I understood the trailer correctly, isn't there something to do with how the two universes/worlds are merging that makes the MK characters more powerful than what they would be ordinarily?

I'm going to rewatch it now.

edit:

Yeah, something along the lines of their "engergies are in constant flux". So that would explain how all the characters are on an even footing.

As in MK characters or both? Because to be honest, Batman is just as mortal as them MK characters, he's just well equipped, a tactician with a cracking kick/punch and speed through training.

so did anyone pick this game up yet? i got it on thursday and im pleased with it, it feels a lot more polished than the other 3D mk games and reminds me more of the old 2D games :p while i miss the gore from the old games i still think the fatalities are a lot better than the crap they put in armageddon

Still cant make my mind up, for instance whats the best game the 360 version or the ps3 or no difference between them, are people going to let me beat them online :p as if its anything like tekken on the ps3 im rubbish online.

well i havent had any lag online and im on the ps3 version :) the ps3 has a much better dpad too, i own both consoles so it was the pad that made me decide

I don't know whether I should buy it now for the 360 or wait until Christmas when I get my PS3 and buy it for that. Reason being, it looks like one of those games that the online modes get abandoned after 2-3 months and then theres no one playing it anymore.

I got this, actually been looking forward to it. Played through the first couple of story chapters and it flows quite well. Superheroes actually look tough on the whole and not totally gay and MK characters are as usual. Moves are good and the 'klose kombat' and free-fall combat are good additions. I find it quite addictive, and is the reason that I'm still awake. Once i've finished the majority of the game - 'kombo challenge' is tricky, it will probably only be brought out when friends are over if not traded in, but as a game to play for the next while I'm happy with it. It's fun as youd expect from the mortal kombat franchise and the addition of superheroes adds an element of good vs evil, and I find myself wanting to play as DC characters more than MK.

Hope that helps anyone whos interested. :)

How many people have actually bought this? Specifically PS3 owners, tempted to pick this up today. Can't think of a really good reason, but I want this!!

Picked this up, quite good fun so far. Not sure why I like it really.
