left 4 dead

I played this last night with my brother and a mate. It was quite fun and a good laugh, the only problem I really had with the game was that everything felt sped up. I know it is meant to be a run and gun type game but if the players moved at a slgihtly slower rate I think it would install a greater fear in being hunted down.

So of the touches in the game, such as when you get pinned or the boomer being sick followed by the hordes of zombies were quite nice. :)

Which you don't get on PC either at the moment, at least none worth playing.

When the PC version drops in price and there's a decent selection of user created content then I might give it a look, but at the moment the reasons in my post above are why I'm going with 360.

Drops in price? It's already less than £20!

Also, user created content wise, the demo already has a few of the HL2 maps modded to work in L4D and some guy is working on a remake of the dawn of the dead mall and Dead Set... set. All worth playing imo! :D

That said, people should get the game for whatever platform they know the most people to play with on.

What I mean is that I definitely want this on 360 first. By the time there's enough high quality user created content to make it worth a buy on PC then it should be less than the £19 something it can be had for now.

I'm not knocking the PC version, just that I'm not going to buy it over the 360 version on the premise that there will be good user created content. I'd rather have the 360 version now and see what people come up with for the pc version in the future.

What difficulty are people planning to play this on, I want to do it on expert from the get-go for the full zombie experience :D

I go either advanced or expert.

It can be very frustrating when you land up playing with idiots when using the match maker though.

When I get the full game, will probably stick to expert, but will try and stick to playing with people off here.

You avin a laugh? is he avin a laugh??!!

They aint amazing, but they do considering the source engine has seen its day.

That's what you get when you play a Source engine game on a console.

Having played both versions the PC version blows the 360 out of the water, although the most alluring thing about the PC is user made maps and Valve support, it's arguable that Valve support PC games way more than the 360 due to Microsoft making them charge, thus like they are doing with TF2 they won't release content till they package a bunch together. (not that TF2 is good on the 360 mind)

Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi got that piece of business out of the way just before our latest Left 4 Dead demo, saying that the developer wanted to build up a massive update for Xbox 360 users before delivering. Given that Valve is being forced to charge for the update, they wanted to ensure that 360 owners were getting their money's worth.

Played the demo at a friends last night - while it is an awesome game it is more like 28 Days Later crossed with some Resident Evil creatures than a "zombie" game.

It is still awesome though and want to get an Xbox 360 for it :p

I actually prefer the 360 version to the PC at the moment. Don't really see anything graphically different except and absence of legs and resolution differences.

Sharpness and Lighting alone look considerably better to me, I don't think it's really worth the price on 360 either when it's £20 on PC with the guarantee of new maps and mods for free.

Yeah but as I've said before if the PC content takes off like it should then I don't mind picking this up later on when the price has dropped even more so.

As it stands I've played both PC and 360 versions and I've just had so much more fun on 360 than on the PC. That and I haven't had any crashes on the 360 and next to no griefing.

I could run off a list of side by side comparisons that justify the purchase for me, but I don't need to; I've just enjoyed the demo on 360 more than I have on PC.

Yeah, I had a number of connection issues on the PC, while with the 360 I have had no problems finding host, etc.

The graphics on PC are better - most notably with no AA on the 360, but I reallly can live without it as when you get into the game, you don't notice things like that.

Despite the 360 version being more expensive, it's the one I have bought, mostly because I can shoose to play it in the 2nd bedroom or in the living room. With PC version I would strictly be playing behind desk in bedroom.

Its also the sort of game I could get bored with very quickly, and if so, will be easier to trade in the 360 version. There really is very little variety in the gameplay, so this is a strong possibility.

Funny, I had the 360 version freeze but not the PC version, stable as a rock.

Oh well, I think Steam Community (like the OcUK group in particular) is gonna be a key feature in the enjoyment of this game. I fear this game will also be another TF2 on the 360.

Too many people bum CoD4 and Halo, where as Valve games have a very strong following on PC.
