***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

And if i use your stance on games then 90% of them are mods too. To be fair, out of all "types" of games, the ones most likely to get new levels etc would be mods, these days you dont see new levels and similar groundbreaking developments in a game until there is an expansion.

Of course it's a mod and you wont be seeing new levels any time soon all you will get is gameplay tweaks skins and maybe a couple of new zombies.

I don't buy in to the hype you'll all be bored of this within a few weeks imo.

It's not a mod though is it, honestly? :p

It's a completely new game, unlike anything else, based on an engine. having background technology like an engine does not make every title developed using it a mod?

Well under that argument you could say half-life was a Quake mod. The line between 'mod' and 'game' is blurring all the time. What matters is the professionalism of the product, and L4D is game making at its finest.

Half life had a long and varied deep single player mode ? anyway I'll shut up as the current theme is anyone that dares to criticize the game and it's price immediately gets burned at the stake.

I just know that I'd be bored of it within about 20 plays through and am suggesting it should be cheaper.

Zombies spawning randomly does not = high replay value to me sorry.

I view it as a modern day zombie smash tv or gauntlet which is no bad thing but wears thin quite fast.

Maybe we will get bored after a few weeks, its the same with a lot of games. If that is the case then your idea to wait a while to pick it up on the cheap is a terrible idea since nobody will be playing it by then will they? And you'll be stuck with bots. :p

Of course it's a mod it's just a mod with high production values with money behind it.

I do like the game but the hype it's getting is not due.

But I appreciate you all paying silly money for it as that can only help to bring the price down to a more realistic level for this currently short lived game.

Totally agree, This game is awesome but the shelf life is very very limited even with new content.

Well the "silly money" I wasted on this was simply what I got paid during an hour and half team lunch at nandos last week. So it's all good to me.

No it's a game where everyone will play for the new content get bored then play again as new content is added rinse repeat.

If you look around a lot of people are bored already playing as the survivors and drop from the servers when it's their turn to play as them.

No you got paid to do your job.

Long? Takes 30mins to complete
Varied? Nothing was dynamic, once you've done it once you will certainly be able to do it again in the exact same manner.
Deep? Mostly due to the games that it spawned, when HL1 came out originally there wasnt much background to it at all.

I think you'll find on these forums people get flamed for being idiots, not for disagreeing.

30 mins to play through half life ? surely you are talking about some silly speed run ? the very idea that you are knocking half life sees your credibility fly out the window.

And there's no need to suggest I'm an idiot for having my own opinion on the game and it's price just because you are in love with the games graphics.

I'll pick it up when it's £15 (which is all it's worth) when there's much more content added.

oooh, oooh, ooh!! I got one!!!!

"All FPS games are the same, because you have a gun and walk around and shoot things".

Therefore L4D is like every other FPS game. My logic for the win.

Basically, all you need to do is go out and buy Wolfenstein 3D. All FPS are mods of this.

Out of interest, which aspects of L4D do you think make the game feel more of a mod rather than a separate game. The game structure, gun models, maps, sounds?

Well the fiver extra I paid ontop of your limit really is astronomical, and I might have to move back in the parents and sell everything I own :p

Crysis warhead, an expansion pack for £18 and not bad, orange box, just a load of mods with some crappy looking cartoon game with engis and spies (probably my favourite game), I could go on.

L4D is awesome, if you don't like it THEN PRESS THE BACK BUTTON and go into a thread you actually want to talk about rather than whining in here and stamping your feet telling us that your opinion is important.

'Thanks for the info pic insert here'

I have a question, if you buy it from a store will you be able to see your Steam friends who are playing it? Or will you have to get the Steam version for that?
