Just got my hands on this. Couldn't wait for the international release...

All I've doing for the last few hours is crashing ... spectacularly. It really does feel like you've got 10 tons of metal dangling under a set of supercharged ceiling fans. Eagle Dynamics once again prove they are the masters of creating authentic flight models.

If you like Sims you are gonna LOVE this! I'll post some screenies later.

Eagle Dynaimcs released the English Manuals for free yesterday if you want to have a taste of what to expect

Whens it out in the UK then? It does look rather good, although looks ridiculously complicated to take off ;) I wouldn't want to use the simplistic controls, I'd have to learn what every flippin switch does!

Is the manual the only difference between the versions? Is there an option to change the language on the gauges on your version?

Really can't wait to try this out. Hoping it won't be too long now.

The English manuals are on the DCS black shark web page I have them you can download them for free. to take off correctly you have to go through 2 A4 pages to get you in the air.....................or you can over ride those settings basically you make the game as complemented as you like.
you can play it as a true flight Sim or you can set your level of experience.
And BS should be released around Febuary

There was some talk of getting jets in the sim as well was there not? I do like choppers but would have prefered an Apache :D I'll buy it anyway as I'm a sucker for sims. I even bought the appauling Israeli Air force :D

The next module they have planned is the Apache, followed by the A-10.

The Apache will let two players co-op as pilot and gunner in the same helicopter. :D

Incorrect the next will be the A-10 then the Apache.

Meh.. I'm happy with either :D

Although getting a proper authentic jet with the same detail as they've got with the Ka-50 will be fantastic - having to actually manage your engines rather than just having 'faster or slower' as with most sims, no matter how detailed. Having a proper fighting aircraft with the same anal attention to detail as the payware MS Flight Sim aircraft.

heh there's little that can compare with falcons dynamic campaigns. I doubt we'll ever see that level of integration and complexity in a sim campaign again. Although we may I guess. Good news about the A-10 and Apache. @ OP: What kind of FPS and fluidity are you getting at your choosen video settings? Thanks.

Roger that, I spoke with one of the Mods face to face a few weeks ago.
I even flew the Black Shark at a flight sim at Birmingham a fews back.
It was great Had a force feed back platform with Trackir and 3 monitors.

I should have 3 monitors set up by the time it come out - can't wait.

I don't think I'll go as far as 3 monitors and a 4th touchscreen as a few people have done.

Demo is due before Christmas, International release is slated for Jan-Feb 2009. The Devs are waiting to get the game rated internationally, and are finalising the localisations for English, German, French and Spanish.

I will be getting the international release too, as all the missions, training and the recorded comms within the missions will be translated. I can get by for now. The Russian version has an option for the tooltips in cockpit to be in English. the International version will have a full English cockpit too.

As for FPS and fluidity, it is better than Flaming Cliffs with all the option on full except, no mirrors and the water on medium. It runs like a Dream. Specs:- Core 2 @ 3ghz, 2 GB mem and 7900gs. Res 1680x1050.

Next module out is the A-10C the upgraded A-10 the US forces are just getting delivered. Eagle Dynamics did the Desktop simulator for the A-10C for the US Air national Guard, so expect it to be very good.

The Black Shark itself is a real handful (let so, after it dawns on you that you have been fighting with autopilot for control, after forgetting to turn it off). I have flying pretty much mastered (I only crash every 2 of 3 flights now) But flying and fighting is gonna take a while.. a long while to get right. I can't praise the Flight model enough, it just feels so good.

Enough from me, I'm off to cra... fly some more.
