Hello!

My dear old Granny needs a new computer to check her emails on.

Thats all she does btw, turn it on, go to Hotmail, turn it off.

So, what would you reccommend i buy her?

She need a full system, mouse, keyboard, monitor ect...

Cheap as possible.

Cheers!

How about this? Cheapest i could go i think.

Comes to £355

Plus a copy of XP = £421

Or,

Asus Eee Box + Asus 19" monitor = £352

Or,

"Primo Basic" + Asus 19" monitor + Keyboard and mouse = £425

What do u think?

I'd go with the Asus Eee Box

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...B202-BLK Atom N270 1.6GHz - Black Full System

Small, sleak, wireless for t'internet. Ticks all the boxes for granny. Comes with a copy of XP aswell.

Couple it with that monitor = £340

All she wants to do is surf the world wide web, maybe check out what her friends are up to on bebo :p so I wouldnt bother with those specs above, the Eee box would be a good buy.

sorry to hijack the thread but how do you put up the picture of the basket like that to show the spec ?

Or a cheap laptop.

+1
I'd recommend a mac book or a Imac or cheap laptop with a simple linux disto like Gos .The reason I say this is the constant firewall anti virus and windows update stuff can be very daunting and confussing for an older first time user.I'll give you an example my uncle 65 had the lend of a 1.8 Pentium m 1gb laptop but much prefers the Imac G3 500mhz 384mb with Tiger I give him because of the simplicity. Too many cables to come lose and simple thing to go wrong with the desktop not to mention the 24/7 365day a year technical hard and software support that come with building her a desktop.

I agree with going for an Eee PC,

Nice and small and you can fit it to the back of your monitor so it takes up even less space.
