I have had this phone for a couple of months now, Its by far the best phone I have ever owned and I have had a lot of phones.

Can these be unlocked? May pick one up on PAYG today but will need to get it unlocked to work on Vodafone

I tried on in the stop but didn't like the keyboard. Pity about the camera.

Yes, from either a back street mobilephone shop or using an universal sim. Also I think you can get it unlocked by Vodafone, try calling up customer support.

Also the new firmware has been released this week, so you get it unbranded too.

I didn't actually want a contract but the 18 months worked out at 270 , cheaper than the phone on pay as you go.

But with the E71 for free - I got this by calling up , have Vodafone contracts already so they did a good deal.

Have to make sure I don't use the SIM that came with it to make any calls, no minutes included.

Very happy so far, set up voip and email all working nicely, battery life also seems good. Keypad is a bit small for me but im sure I'll get used to it quite soon !

Is there a way to disable the automatic keyboard locking? I've looked through every setting menu... still can't find it.

When I just have it on my desk next to me, it's a minor annoyance to have unlock it every time.

edit:
Nevermind. Just found it under Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Security > Phone and SIM card. Even using the help took a while to find that as I didn't expect to find it there. Thought it would be a less specific setting than "security" settings.

Anyone else had problems playing YouTube vids? After RealPlayer starts and tries to connect, it times out. Is there some other player I could install on my E71 that works better?

Yeah I'm on the youtube site to start with. Then click on "Watch Video" which launches RealPlayer... which then times-out trying to connect to the feed.

Odd, on mine I just click the video I want, it loads up, and I press 'option, play full screen' and off it goes. There's certainly no real player involved!

Thanks for help. Just occured to me, could this be browser related? I'm just using the native nokia browser.

Apart from browser do you have any other players installed besides Flash and RealPlayer?

My phone btw is not locked or branded, so no costum operator related software.

No I get auto-directed to the mobile site. The links are to ram files hence the launching of RealPlayer.

Should I try Opera? Is the free one good enough to use for most everything?
