Nvidia's Big Bang 2 WHQL driver set for release on November 17th

Dagnabbit, HT - I just this second downloaded the American drivers (like I always do - same drivers, less international bloat.)

Mind you, even with my paltry "up to" 6meg downloads, it only took about a minute :)

Excellent, will try them out on my 8800GTX later tonight :D

I want Crysis and Crysis Warhead to experience gains :p

iv gome from 180.43 to these 180.48 drivers and saw a 5-10 ish fps boost in farcry 2 with 1680x1050 res, everything maxed, DX10 and no AA.

not given anything else a try yet

5-10 ish? What percentage increase is that for you - I went from 180.43 to these 180.48 drivers and got 2fps increase on far cry DX9 1650x1050, Ultra High, 2x AA - from 38.73 to 40.73 .. 5.1% (That's for a single card so as long as it gets better and more reliable I don't mind!)

I doubt that will allow higher quality though :p

Installed them last night for my 9600GT.
No problems at first.
Turned the PC on this morning, booted.....up came windows.......off went monitor!!
Tried again, same thing....booted into Windows, off went the monitor.
Uninstalled the driver that I installed last night, reinstalled, booted.......now the monitor does not go blank(yet)...............

Installed them on my dual boot Windows XP system and Vista x64 system and still getting the dreaded " Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" message in Vista x64.

Yes I had the same problem with the beta 180.43 drivers. I had to go into VGA mode in the end and delete the display driver and re-install. Seems like on the odd occasion there is problem with the install routine or a corruption. It is not the first time I have experienced this.

I know from experiance my 9600GT got more and more unstable the later the driver i used :(

Just went back to using the old one from the install CD in the end, which stopped most the BSOD.

(Vista btw, didnt use XP with that card at all)

Installed these on XP 32 bit last night, played some Fallout 3 and all seemed o.k.Rebooted a while later and video signal went completely nuts, monitor flashing on and off, never had this before from a new release driver!

Had to enter safe mode to uninstall and re-install the 178.24's,not sure why this happened though.

I noticed a selectable PhysX option in the 180.48's control panel, which I left enabled.

I'm using a single 8800GTX,does Nvidia PhysX require a second card to function properly or something?

Anyway system seems fine now so I'll stick with these 178's which I seem to have been using forever! Then again I could just buy an ATI 4870! these sporadic and buggy Nvidia driver releases are beginning to pee me right off tbh!

I've learned the hard way that both nVidia and ATi's driver support leaves a lot to be desired.

Don't waste your money by switching brand over that issue. ;)

no it will work on your main card, if you add a second or 3rd card, a dropdown menu apears for you to select a seperate GPU like so:

Right thanks, still unsure why these drivers are causing my system so much grief though,I have a second system (HTPC running vista 32bit) with an 8800gts,i'll try the 180.48's on that when I get home from work later.

Will be installing Far Cry 2 soon on the GTX system,so I'd like to get these drivers working,as they seem to offer a particuarly good performance increase in this game over previous sets.

Mind you I'm 50 odd hours into Fallout 3 and have only just got to the Citadel so FC2 may actually be further down the line, maybe i'll wait for the next WHQL driver set before installing it! which will be when Nvidia? about this time next year?:p

Seem slower on my machine?

Also, now lost fan control in Gainward's Expertool but gained a "power saving" button.

Not that impressed TBH:(

Qualitatively speaking, seen great improvement in Crysis warhead on my 8800GTS 320, and good icrease in FPS in Grid, particularly where I had bad slowdown before. Think I might be keeping my card a little longer than I imagined, awesome!

Haven't checked the numbers yet though, but it may be it's just pushed the card into the sweet spot for those games at my res (1680x1050).
