What are your favourite films that have been released this year? I figure, with a month and a half to go and all of the games ones have been done, time for some movie fun. :) Also, if you think it's worth my tallying up, then I'm more than happy to do so.

My top films this year are:

In third place, it was probably 'Cloverfield'. I know this was a love/hate film, but I loved it. I've only seen it once and that was at a pretty decent cinema, and that probably had a significant effect on how good I thought it was. I loved the style and feel of the film, I did feel the tension they were trying to convey and I thought they did it really effectively. Also, damn that monster was scary. I actually felt a shiver everytime I saw it. :p A damn good watch, I have to say.

In second place, the awesomeness which was 'The Dark Knight'. As a lot of other people think, this was an absolutely astonishing film which superb acting, great plot, great script and everything about it was nigh on perfect. I loved loved LOVED it. Unfortunately, however, I judge how good a film is on how much I enjoyed watching it. Although I had a great time watching this film, there was another that I enjoyed considerably more..

In first place, beyond any shadow of a doubt, is 'Taken'. I don't know why I enjoyed this film so much.. I thought Liam Neeson was superb, but apart from him, there were few to no stand out performances. The action scenes were AWESOME with a capital everything, they just were so simple, yet so effective. I don't know of a film that has given me quite such an adrenaline rush when watching. It was just that every scene just had me going " I WANT MORE!!1 " Every scene was just unbelievably awesome... I just had such a great time sitting and watching the film, I didn't want it to end.

What were your favourites?

I would single out The Dark Knight and Wall-E for sure but I feel it's too early yet as there are lots of films to be released in 2008.

this list may help freshen your memories a bit :)

ones that stick out..

Cloverfield
Walle
Hancock (was kinda poor, but enjoyable)
Dark Knight

Probably Cloverfield i'd pick out at the top, such an awesome cinematic experience

Horton Hears a Who was amazing too, thought it was going to be rubbish

I agree, Taken being the best film of the year.

Wall-e also very good
Quite enjoyed Eagle Eye, reminded me of another film though.
Iron Man
And The Incredible Hulk.

I don't know about a top 3 yet but 'In Bruges' will definitely be in there somewhere :)

Cloverfield I enjoyed, but I wouldn't watch it again.

In terms of surprises, I was expecting Iron Man to be rubbish.... boy how wrong was I :)

It's such a good film for many reasons. I think it'll have to go down as my favourite film of the year as I can't think of a better one atm.

Some great lines..

''They're filming midgets!''

"A war between the black midgets and white midgets?"

''He pauses, even though he should just hit the ****, and he repeats''
