All,

Have been looking into the above cars and i am willing to spend either around 8500 on the cupra or 10,500 on the GTI.

After searching around i have found i can get both for under 30k miles with most likely an 05 plate on both.

My question is, would the extra 2k i would be spending on the Golf justified. Or would i be better of saving my money and getting the Cupra.

I plan on chipping both of the vehicles eventually to around 260bhp.

Advice much appreciated.

Tucks

Get the Golf.

Jesus christ I just recommended a Golf. I must go for a lie down.

It must be a cold day in hell ;)

Personally I say get the golf as it's clearly what you want, most Skoda/Seat purchasers never had any intention of buying a VW and if it's the Golf you want you'll only be dispointed.

Actually i'd spend the money on something older so someone else has already lost the money but thats just my aversion to buying expensive depreciating assets.

In this context perhaps, but if it was a Mk4 GTI vs a Cupra R then no, the R is a better car than any Golf GTI.

I never said anything about which car was better, I just said that the OP clearly wants the golf in my opinion so buying anything else is silly.

i'd say Cupra, but i'm biased.
if i was neutral i'd say golf, because it's a 'newer' car

however, if you buy the cupra you'd spend less, thereby allowing more for upgrades

Cupra R all the way I think, but dont steal any decent ones that come along until I've had a look at them, some scumbag got a minter hours before I was off to look at it! Although I'm also considering Astra VXR and a Mazda 3 MPS.
