Obligatory new car thread!

It made nothing on the RR as it was so bent it kept twisting off the rollers.

Dude, if your going to slate my car, at least get the facts right first ;)

The nearside front wheel isn't sitting correctly, one of the metal plates which goes down to the brakes/hub/wheel bit is bent and therefore the wheel arches inwards.

So whenever Andy tried to give it any power on the rollers it kept pushing to oneside and jumping off.

Look what it did to the last tyre on there :p

Also, when you last saw it, I had only had the car for like a day after it had been written off. The car is in a MUCH better condition now :) The camber issue on the wheel still needs to be sorted out but to be honest I haven't had the time to do it, it's going to involve a classic fix of heating said bent plate up and whacking it with a large hammer :D

Regardless if others think it's a wreck or not, I love it, which at the end of the day...is all that matters. :)

I'm sure Fox will tell you how much of a wreck it is at the next meet...or will he ;)

So, his facts were correct, and its a wreck then?

So one metal arm that needs straightening determines the car is a wreck?

No, the fact that if it's that far off that it can't even stay a straight course on a rolling road, it probably shouldn't be anywhere near a public highway would suggest it's a wreck...

It is if it means the thing can't even stay on a rolling road and does that to tyres. The thing really shouldn't have been on the roads then and to still be in that state however many weeks later is taking the urine. Fix it or lay it up.

Edit- Should have refreshed the page before replying as Dolph has stated the same in the previous post.

The car drives absolutely fine. It doesn't pull to one side or anything. In fact, I don't really have to justify it. Saying the car is a wreck because it's "so bent it twisted itself off the rollers" is utter tosh.

When the car drives absolutely fine and it took 4 months for it to do that to an already knackered tyre?

If it affected the driving and made it a danger to drive it wouldn't be on the roads. But this just isn't the case.

Are you serious? If the wheels are pointing in different directions which caused A) that ridiculous tyre and B) fall off a rolling road don't you think that maybe the grip and handling might be compromised in some way?

I've owned some right ****heaps but at least they've always had 4 wheels pointing in the same direction :D

I think the fact you let a tyre get like that pretty much sums up what your evaluation of "absolutely fine".

Yes but considering how the car is driven it's hardly affecting it in the slightest.

Fixed for you Leon :p

Or the fact that I didn't have time until recently to get some new tyres fitted?

I knew well long before that happened that the car needed new tyres.

Even the golf with multi-directional steering? :D

Ooh I forgot about that one :D Sounded good and kept you on your toes, what more could a man want?

We did eventually find the fault with that by the way. Someone had made a bad job of replacing a track rod end at one point and badly cross threaded it. The rod end was "jumping" down the thread on the track rod about 1.5" and then jumping back.

And there was me moaning that it just WOULDN'T do more than 120 on the way home from Stoke!

LOL, I seem to remember that was the meet where I decided my rover was terminal and needed to be palmed off because it was a heap of junk... thems were the days. My driver's side wing mirror fell off going over the avonmouth bridge on the way up!

agw, you work at Tulketh Mill?! :D

And I'm used to the Rover bashing :) It's a gorgeous car, looks like new on the inside and the outside isn't bad either.

Took it home today and jesus, it can't half shift. I forgot how great it is to drive a TD!
