Hi,

My wheels are slightly scuffed. Most places want about £45-55 +VAT per wheel to do a good repair job. Just wondering if in your opinion it is actually worth having done? I have low profile tires on 18" wheels, and given where I live lots of roads are pot-holey/ windy lanes where you have to sometimes pull right into the side, keeping them perfect is not easy (there's also no accounting for stupidity- managed to catch one on a really low wall the other day :()

My main concern is that the wheels may start corroding if left untreated. Is it worth having them done soley for this reason?

Thanks

Why not use the wheels as they are until all tyres are just legal then buy a new set of alloys with tyres and sell your old ones on the bay. I did this and after selling the old ones had only spent out around £400 which is less than the tyres on ther own!

Same again next year I think

If you get one refurbed, I presume the others will look a bit funny in comparison? Is it best to get the lot done in one go? Need to get mine done but don't want to spend the money tbh :(

That's what I was thinking too- Need to hit all 4 at once really. Means more money spent :(

£50 is expensive for one wheel. Shop around. Some places will need to do 2 wheels at a time as they can't match the colour, but a decent place will be able to get it right so you can't tell.

Well this was with Smart Repairs, who actually take the tyre off, sand it down, fix, and then use an infra red oven or whatever, as opposed to just using filler.

Any suggestions in the West Yorkshire area?

Thanks

I got my Enkei 17" alloys properly refurbed by These guys great job, but as you say it was ~£50/wheel.

Im planning on getting my 18" OZ Chrono Evos refurbed soon, maybe if we approached somewhere together we may be able to get a small discount for getting 8 done at once?

2nd recommendation for these,i got mine do in the branch at Garforth in Leeds

www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk

They can do a sameday service, and refurb the entire wheel (including the inside). You can have 2 finish types, either just plain powder coating or powder coating with paint on top for fancy and brighter finishes as plain powder coating can be a bit dull.

You get a 30% discount when doing all 4. I got my 19" VXR wheels done for £300 all in for "hi power silver" which is powder coating and paint. I'll take some proper photos tomorrow for you, but i was more than happy with the finish.

can anyone recommend the best place in the essex area (the nearer to witham/chelmsford the better) to get wheels refurbed?

the will need to be refurbed and painted

You could always diy, quite easy to do, I did my spare ones on the ST, rubbed the oputside edges down, filled the gouges, and primered and sprayed over the edges, and they looked pretty good.

i could do with some paint to mask up my little kerb mark that i inflicted on my newly refurbed wheels

It doesnt need filling as was only a slight glance at parking speeds so doesnt need filling, but it could do with painting.

Wheres the best place to get the paints from ?

I read around the focus and detailing world forums, that told me that the colour was moonstone silver, I used a normal rattle can, and then used lots of coats of laquer.i then just used some rubbing compound to blend it in and clean up the over spray.
