Don't try this at home..

You knew what I meant... quiet road, accompanied by other people to make sure it's clear/safe before carrying out said jump.

I know what you implied, but it was a retarded action no matter how you try and qualify it. Jumping 6ft in the air on a narrow public road is always going to be retarded, regardless.

Fair enough, I just thought the guy was due some respect simply to the fact that it was planned and not some chav in a Corsa out for a drive thinking, "oh look, a bridge"

Look at the run off area, a 'controlled' (ie. someone checking no other cars are anywhere near) jump will at worst damage your car a bit and probably set the airbags off. Although they probably didn't consider the latter. Once the financial burden has been forgotten they have pics and a pretty amusing story complete with pics and video. Lighten up. :)

Yeah, I always call it controlled when I leave the road with no control of direction

He said the conditions were controlled, not the car, and he's right, they was plenty of people about to make sure it was safe, no one coming the other way, and nothing to crash into. Shy of having a full rescue team on standby, it'd be hard for the conditions to be any more controlled.

Sorry, I'm all for having a play in a car (a lot of OcUK members can vouch for this), but that is just beyond stupidity IMO.

Why? The only people they're going to hurt is themselves, and they've obviously scoped it out carefully enough to minimise the chances of that.

Your more dangerous just going for a spirited drive.

I've been on many runs with the Type-R lot. The organizers run the route a few times and make pace notes for us all. Any deliberate messing about is not tolerated and you're asked to leave. Simple really, and they're much safer drives than on my own and those that aren't used to B road madness do get a much more controlled environment to learn in the middle of our pack. Good times :)

I made the mistake of letting Amanda use the millage on the notes as gospel one time and in "0.2" miles there was supposed to be a crest. It was on a road that was plain grey with no markings an awkward light that wasn't casting any obvious shadow. Needless to say the crest was nearer than both of us saw and I ended up about 4ft in the air.

Deliberately doing it, debatable, but I can relate the safety in numbers aspect in this situation.

A pretty stupid act if you ask me - Is he going to speak to the local council about getting that road repaired??

Surely the damage is going to be costly to fix if the airbag was deployed and will need replacement?

To be honest, I hope the car is a write-off financially as it'll teach him a lesson for being such a dick.

Kinda cool, but also kinda stupid... but it's the sort of thing I'd do, and then think "**** I didn't think this through did I?! :o"

Hope the damage isn't too bad! Then again I like crazy sports so no wonder I think this thing is fun :p
