Increased "Photography & Video" Activity

i think its the same with all forums that have been going for a lengthy time. the old regulars move on and new faces pop up, its just a shame there seems to be more people leaving than joining.

As for the competition its definitely got quieter over the last few months, i think however the new critiqeu feature will add a lot to it and hopefully as it becomes better known more people will enter. i really really hope the comp continues to run, some months its the only thing that makes me get my camera out and be creative.
Also to any one that thinks there not ready/good enough to enter the comp JUST DO IT!! (that also applies to people that think there too good.) i enter for christ sake and i couldnt take a decent picture even if i had all the members from ocuk next to me telling me how.

I really hope this forum doesn't die out, the regulars keep it going (we know who you are) and are always willing to give advise/support.
i sometimes think that people are scared to reply to posts in fear of getting bashed for giving incorrect advise or off critigue, at the end of the day you have to ask to learn.

i've been a regular now for a good few months and i've lernt so much. i hope V&P carries on and returns to its former self.

The competitions are too hard. People don't have the time to go and take a photo of something that relates to nature when they live in a city. Topics need to be a bit easier and of something that everyone has access to.

i think the fact that the winner gets to decide on the theme for the next round is perfect, it makes it much more intesting. although the theme may not suit you it gets you to take pictures of what you normally wouldn't and possibly opening up a whole new area of photography to you.

Short version

Members started the Comp with our own initiative and chose our own judges, been so for 2 years + it was running, I was once a Judge
Spie sacked them all
Spie appointed new judges

exactamundo.

I think you two have warped memories :S

Spie didnt sack or appoint anyone, there was one new judge, who was still chosen by members...

But yeah, this arguments been done :p

I just havent had time to do much shooting. Too many good games and too much hard work taking all my time :p

I actually think given that this is just a sub forum, it's quite active. I've seen a couple of out and out photography forums die off from getting such little traffic. So for a sub forum to have such regular posters and such knowledgable ones at that, well I think that's quite impressive (must admit, I don't think I was around much in the old days so may not have much to compare it too).

With immediate effect all OcUK Photography Forum Judges are relieved of their position and responsibility. New Judges will be appointed within the next few days.

There have been some excellent Judges in recent months, and all are encouraged to re-apply. In addition, members can nominate anyone whom they feel would be suitable.

Please send all applications and nominations to Scuzi.

You are right that this argument has been done and it's old, water under the bridge and all that, but you are still wrong, and without reading that thread again, i remember that you support the decision to "relieve" all the judges. So, i think you are the one with "warped memories".

+1

I have OCUK open all day weather at work or at home, and always on the V&P section.

Love it :)

I'm sorry but that's not true. No city is 100% concrete, there are loads of things that encompass nature, granted there are less of the fun animals but there is still nature about.

The current comp is quite hard, and lately I've not had a chance to enter into the comps, which I do like doing. And today is wet so it's hard to find something to shoot for the comp. :(

I also need to be more active on here, which means I need to take more photos. I have loads of shots I need to upload to my webspace and may get some C&C from you lot on them...but they are all quite samey, my latest shots have been of cars in carparks at Motors Meets. :p
