Come on guys

It should be made illegal for any Christmas paraphernalia to be displayed outside of the home at any point forward of December 10th. It should also be a legal requirement to remove them from display either on or before January 1st. Everything's long over by then, why do people have to leave them up for a fortnight into the new year?

What I don't get is why don't people just leave them up all year round, then when Christmas comes along all you have to do is switch the fairy lights on :D.

Agreed, no wonder Christmas is such an anti-climax, it gets built up far too early these days. By the time it's here you are sick of it.

Long over by then for some. Decorations and cards get taken down by my family after New Years, but the tree is left up until 12th January (Old Scottish New Year is 11th). But then my folks stay in Burghead and Clavie night is a much bigger thing than new hogmanay.

EDIT: Oh an on topic, I shall as usual be only using the christmas smilies as and when they should be used - the fortnight leading up until christmas :p

Woot for Clavie night.. I used to love that.... (I used to live in Clavie cottage) best day of the year... legally burn a hill, then get hammered.... excellent way to spend the evening

there was a house that used to do this close to where my middle school was. it looks pretty stupid to be honest lol.

bet they were just too lazy to take em down:D

Ahhh Christmas, when everyone celebrates the birth of Christ, I'm not religious but it is a time for remembrance for the sacrifice of Christ and what that meant to us.

Oh, not that Christmas you say?

You mean the one where people take this "holliday" as an excuse to get drunk, top themselves and spend their hard earned cash to reassure themselves that they are truly good people, because good people buy each other blu-ray players and xboxes.

Three cheers for Christmas!

Well actually they traditionally stay up for the 12 days of christmas which is to the 6th january. It's just that so many people put them up early that they end up being displayed for a month or more. If I have my way decorations go up on xmas eve and stay up for the 12 days.
