*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Spoke to O2 apparently they've been having issues with their DNS servers to Europe.

Dammit.

Seems only to affect french things.

Had to manually put some DNS servers in a managed to liberate from Warhammer Alliance website, can connect just about now lol. But i think it's like a direct route, still no website, etc.

Yeah I was having trouble earlier on too, will give it another go. That Rutharialenier dude or whatever his name is was doing my head in last night though, non-stop stream of pointless teenage verbal diarrohea :(

Thought I'd repost what I just posted on the WAR-Alliance forums.

I've got to say I sort of agree on the whole Snouzer.

The game itself is very good, the community is good but the handling of us mere mortals in the EU is beyond a joke at times.

I've spent a lot of time levelling and generally playing as my character on Sea of Dreams and don't want to have to reroll on another server and start from scratch again (my own choice, and my own stubbornness I know), but it's getting to a point where I am losing interest in a game that I really enjoy simply because of how poor the game is being handled.

I'm logging into a server where there seems to be roughly 20 people online tops (throughout the entire server). No scenarios, no public quests, none of the daily events are possible with so few people.

It's becoming almost a chore to play the game at this point. Surely EA/GOA realise that the very moment their customers (because lets face it, we're all just bottom line to these people at the end of the day) feel like it's becoming a hassle to hit "Play" they're losing them.

I haven't logged into my account nearly as regularly as I would have liked simply because nobody else is bothering either. If this was a regular RPG that would be fine, but the three words/letters at the start of the genre kinda mean I can't play on my own.

This is an MMO after all? Isn't it? WAR on the low servers may as well be Multiplayer-Online, and just drop the "Massively" part from the monicre completely.

I entirely realise that once the server transfers are up and running, we've moved to Dragonback Mountains and we have a decent population again everything will be hunky dory.

It's merely the fact that many of the players on these low population servers feel allianated, simply because we're not on a popular server.

The experience this game can offer, and has offered me is fantastic when your playing with large groups. During the first few weeks of play when we were keep raiding multiple keeps and running with three warbands at once was a fantastic experience and I have every faith this is still happening on other servers.

But why would you want to, effectively force a small minority of your players, those of us left on the low pop servers to miss out on experiences like this?

Nobody wants to join a server that is Low/Low, whether you give them a 20% boost in experience or not.

I cannot understand why GOA, EA, or whomever it is, don't realise that they simply do not have the playerbase at the moment to warrent the amount of servers that they offer.

I understand that the different servers offer different types of RvR, Core etc... gameplay, but I can't see why the number of servers are just halved (at least) for now. It surely would mean we'd only have one or two Low/Low population servers whilst the vast majority would be Med/Med at the very least.

Personally, server transfers aren't a solution to the problem... it's a temporary fix. A bandaid or a plaster over a pretty large wound to the heart of WAR. Unless the wound is healed, I'm pretty sure WAR could lose it's heart and it's going to lose it's players.

I don't think there's any point trying to fathom what's going on in GOA minds, they seem to be completely out of touch with reality. The second heavy metal task last night was to complete all 3 stages of a PQ, which I did within about 15 minutes of logging in, but god help anyone on a half empty server trying to get that done.

I haven't managed to do a single one at all.

It didn't have to be three stages of the same PQ. So you could do stage 1 of 3 PQs for it to count.

I cheated with that...I went back to an area about 15 levels below me and did one on my own :p
Although I can't see how/were you check the progress of the heavy metal event thingy (I can't see it in my book o knowledge etc).

I think last night I saw one person doing PQ's other than myself.

There very last tab at the bottom of your book of knowledge (it's gold) shows your progress in special events.

And it is accompanied by a nice heavy metal riff

I'm re-rolling as a NotBS on K8P I think when they're live, as AxeBitePass is dying on its arse. There were a total of 9 players for both sides in Ostland (top T2) at 9pm last night. Its not enough.

I don't log in very much now purely because there is nothing going on.

There are only two really active servers - Karak 8 Peaks for the core ruleset, and Eltharion for Open RvR. Both are really busy, but there's not much point rolling on any of the other servers.

i just started WAR and one thing that seriously bugs me is that everyone in that game appears to be a mute, theres little to no social aspect to the game, i even went to a city which had a fair number of players in there and shouted "giving away 5 gold if someone starts a conversation" waited 10 minutes and not a peep.

It is an odd one, if you take the banter and social side of things out of an MMORPG you quickly discover that offline RPGs tend to do things a lot better and generally have more involving game mechanics.

If it wasn't for our guild I'ds have stopped playing WAR by now, as it stands I'm quitting when my 3 months are up.

Probably going to look to Aion for my next game.
