Ordered one for someone for Christmas (Theyll barely use it so no need for the hard drive), and as I know it comes with 5 arcade games and a 256MB memory card. So, are the arcade games on the machine, or on the memory card, or do they need downloading?

Just thinking if they need to go on the memory card, then the NXE update will there be any room for saved games? It might not even get plugged into Live so I could avoid the update to be honest and save a bit more room. Can you stop it from doing the avatar bit of the update?

I am fairly sure you get redeemable codes.

The NXE upgrade requires 128MB of free space to be installed (so half of the 256 MB card which comes with the Arcarde SKU).

The XBLA games which come as standard with the Arcarde are:
o UNO
o Pac-Man: Championship Edition
o Boom Boom Rocket
o Feeding Frenzy
o Luxor 2

Nice one, makes a little more sense now (If you ignore rp ;)). Hows about the avoiding the avater bit?

:p

2nd attempt at advice, you cannot avoid the Avatar thing, although I don't actually know what happens if you have no memory card plugged in or HDD, when it does the install. Try it and see?

Edit:
Never go online. It'll never do the NXE update.
damn, I'm wrong again!! On a roll today :)

I'm not sure that they can, as when I typed in the stuff for my arcade it said "congratulations you have enough storage to enjoy NXE" so that, or any other offer wasn't available to me.

That is because the Arcarde can install the NXE as it only requires 128MB of space and ships with a 256MB memory card.

The offer is only for the original Core system that shipped with a 64MB memory card.

Yeah that is what I thought, I had a 20gb from a premium to go on it anyway. Although I think they knew about the HDD from the console ID etc so that is possibly why I never got an offer.

I entered the details for my arcade and was offered the 20gb hard drive and 3 months Live for £19.99

I also entered my arcade serial number and was offered the same as Wyrdo.
I did read beforehand that if a HD or memory card was plugged in at the time, it'd recognise you had a sufficient memory device and not offer you it. Not sure if that is the case, but I unplugged my HD to be on the safe side before going through it all :)

An harddrive I think is a must for any 360 owner but then again It might end up cheaper buying the 360 Arcade and then a second hand 120gb harddrive than actual buying an Elite.
