Of course, but the tuition doesn't pay for all the 'education' (lol) they receive. Bench fees alone for life sciences undergraduate projects can run into the thousands.
I doubt this, but I'm biased towards sciences.it all evens out [wrt tuition fees alone]
What? Well the money from the Funding Council is state funds... and that makes up a large part of each university's budget..
No. If you're at a good university, tuition and research are highly related. And those grants aren't for teaching, the governement are purchasing a service - reseach for a given topic - which they then get in return. It's not a tuition subsidy.

Research councils also heavily invest in increasing awareness of research to students and the public.
My entire 3rd year of biochemistry, molecular cell biology and medical microbiology (so 60%? of my degree) at Lancaster (not even a good university) was drawn directly from lecturers' research. Some stuff hadn't even been published.Maybe for postgraduate but not for undergraduate...

I didn't say that. I was saying that students profit from research (irrelevant of how it's funded).I still think it's a bit of a tentative link between that and saying that we're not paying for all out tuition. Research in teaching is a useful by product, but to say that the purpose of research grants is for teaching material is rather far fetched.
...Yes but that is still your lecturers research, not students.

...obviously. But tuition fees didn't 'pay' for it.

The only people who are prosecuted for not not paying the TV tax are the ones dumb enough to let the salesman in so he can get his proof.![]()
Regarding the technology, I know a someone who worked as a TV license inspecter and he said the whole van with recievers is a load of rubbish and the vans are empty. People just see the van and are more likely to sign a confession of guilt on there doorstep.
