forgot to say my monitor is a asus 22" ws at 1680 x1050.

i will get some better cooling & a better hard drive when i can afford, but this is a early x-mas & b'day from me haha.

Would be a hell of a let quicker my friend - only thing is, I wouldnt go for it at this current moment at time.

I know you probably have the "gawwwwwd, I have money and need to spend it!!" bug, but put that aside and wait a while until i7 is out for a little bit longer and therefore the components are a lot, lot cheaper.

Also wait until phenom II is out before making a decision and by that time the i7 prices will have gone down anyway :)

Just my opinion though.

Money to burn idd Bengaboy.
If although your looking for future proofing...i7 seems to be the way to go currently.
If not...wait for Denab...new AMD cpu. Then you get the best of both worlds, brand new tech and AMD :P

Just something to think about when suggesting people wait until prices drop...

I bought a 4870x2 the week they came out, I checked the price of the exact same card a few days ago and it was £110 more expensive. This is obviously due to the exchange rate with the dollar, and obviously will not happen all of the time, but its just something to think about, waiting is not always the best thing to do! unless of course, you wait until the technology is obsolete!

This is, as you said, to do with the £ becoming weaker against the $. The Q9550 is about £35 more expensive now then it was when i bought it around 1-2 months ago.

Prices will come down though, as long as the £ does not get even weaker.
