Desperately looking for these after being thoroughly dissapointed to find today they had sold on the bay overnight to someone else. Should have bought them out last night but maybe it was meant to be - or at least thats what Im telling myself.

Perhaps someone here has come across them somewhere? I cant find them anywhere now.

Going to match them up with an Onkyo606 (yes I know they not good musically).

Was reading Richdog's threads regarding his L-ite escapades and they sound like they are something special for their price atm...AVForums agree as well

You'll be lucky to find them new and in stock now tbh. You may be able to find refurbished sets if you look around though.

yaaay the seller on the bay relisted them, brand new sealed in boxes still for £525. says they were part of the last batches the weymouth store had. looks like he stays 5 miles away from me aswell so I can go collect + he is chucking in a qed performance cable for the woofer. Im so happy! hope this isnt a scam *touchwood*

now my shopping list reads:
onkyo606 new for £309
qed silver anniversary xt cable for front left and right (Bi-amped) and center
qed micro cable to rears
pair of btech BT33 wall brackets
digital coaxial cable

does this sound like a good starter system for an audiophile noob?
my tendencies are 70% tv/movie watching - 20% console gaming - 10% music (streamed via pc to PS3 with TVersity)

Currently have:
panasonic 42pz80
PS3
sky hd

would anyone who owns quad l-ites please take a picture of the rear of them for me? i need to see if they will go on my existing speaker stands and if the connections will get in the way of the stand mounting mechanism. so hard to find rear images of them on the net

Heres a picture of the rear for you... sorry for the quality

The problem is some come with one mounting hole and others come with three. I (and many other people on avforums) had major problems finding brackets which would fit one hole and not cover the black hole or the speaker connections. I ended up using stands with a flat shelf rather than a screwed connection. They are an amazing set of speakers though!

much appreciated dead parrot. I may just be able to get away with it. If not, what speakers stands did you end up getting?

I used some apollo sat1 stands. They came with two brackets, a screwed on and a flat base plate. The screwed wouldn't fit without major modification so I just used the plate. There are some pics on the post your hifi thread, it's post 881.

the sat1 are the speakers stands I would get if my current ones dont fit. cant figure out why they so expensive though compared to other stands.

question:
when bi-amping the front speakers....does the front speaker connections on the receiver power the woofer in the satelite speaker and then the rear surround connection on the receiver power the tweeters? or other way round?

ok just got back from high street AV store *quick to the interwebz*

decided on the Onkyo 606 at good price of £309 and also bought 15m of qed micro and 15m of qed silver xt cable. also 1m cambridge audio digital coax for sky hd. (managed to get a further £8 discount)

then went to 'cartographer-lin' electrical store and got the wall brackets.

Upon getting home received an email from the seller of the quad l-ites and I may be receiving the speakers today as he is coming to my vicinity (hope I didnt email him back too late)

anyways I feel like a kid at xmas atm and going to unpack onkyo

PS could anyone please answer my above question :)

Bit of an update - yesterday I got everything and spent the evening setting it all up, just have the tidying up of cables to do. Much appreciate everyones input in the 3 threads I have been posting in :)

Needless to say it sounds awesome, I was shocked and awed! Now I just cant decide if I should set the receiver to 'dsp neo - cinema' or 'dolby prologic ii - cinema' for sky hd watching?

I feel for my neighbours below me - the sub pumps!

This friday, 12 of my work colleagues are coming over for a p*** up and playing PS3 - cant wait!

When I work out how to post pictures on OCuk I will get some up when cabling is finished.

1 question as I am noobish at cabling:
Now I know its not the best solution but I have no other alternative. I need to run the cable for the rear speakers under the tv stand directly straight under the coffee table to the rear wall so they will be exposed at places. What is the best way to cover/protect these exposed places. I used tape before but it mucks up the floor and makes it sticky after a while, there must be a better solution?

Oxide,
Glad you were able to find them - congrats!! I was going to suggest the weymouth place as they were the only place that had them until recently but i didn't know they were getting rid of their last stocks on the bay. I've had mine sitting in their boxes for the last few months as i've not bought an AV amp as yet. Everyone who has bought this set say they are excellent for the price.

:)

Maybe use a rug?

Its not big enough

Thanks JoeMama, I think I was really lucky as the person I bought them off the bay says this was the last new set the weymouth place had and after he bought a projector and receiver realised he couldnt afford it all after looking at bank statements (he says he is very much into hifi and has seperates, arcams etc)

So brand new quad l-ites for good price and a qed performance subwoofer cable thrown in.

hes happy and im happy - just gotta sort out the cable tidying now and knowing my DIY skills will probably fudge it all up.

Great, spoke too soon. Just turned on the Onkyo 606 after work and its buzzing? seems AVForums say it could be a faulty PSU

yes I meticulously ensured all my cabling was ok last night. When I turned it off last night before going to bed it was perfect and now when I turned it on after work its buzzing. The buzzing seems to be coming out of the box itself rather than out the speakers.

Im so dissapointed as I wanted to fiddle with all this gear tonight.

Just looking around Im going to return it to 'high street av' store and see if they can price match a denon 1909 for £339 (so only £30 more)

Im miffed at the fact I now need to unplug all the speaker cable at the back of the receiver, my fingers are still raw from wiring this up. Anyone know of any good quality/cheap banana plugs?

It's definitely a nightmare when stuff decides to break, especially when it's new but you'll get it all sorted in the end, and it'll be worth the wait too :)

As for banana plugs I just use some generic offerings from high street electrical stores, pretty cheap really but they certainly do the job.
