I've recently had calls to my landline and mobile from a machine with a recorded message and menu options like; "if you are this person, press 1, if you can bring this person to the phone press 2, if you would like me to ring back later, press 3"
WTF! ...... it's bad enough having this sort of **** when one rings out but getting it as incoming!!!

Anyone else had this?

I don't talk to machines (except to swear ;))

I ALWAYS tell machines to **** off. Especially those one that ask you to say the department you want to speak to. When it fails to recognise it I end up shouting "JUST PUT ME THROUGH TO A ****ING HUMAN BEING"

I would love it if they were recorded!

Just put the phone down.........simple.

Most of you just need to count to ten, calm down and chillax !

Its annoying when your trying to sleep after working nights,
Just put the receiver on hold for a couple of mins f--- em:D

I get it from time to time. As soon as you hear the generic guy with an over-enthusiastic "HELLO!", I just hang up.

Only machine that I would consider taking a phone call from...

Heh, I remember being on hold when I was trying to call a bank. Their automated voice recognition was awful and I just screamed 'this is ******* useless lump of ****, I want to talk to a ******* human!'

Then the phone rang and someone picked up...

some of them are, but most big companies dont want to pay for the space that the utterance takes up!

I've been on the TPS for quite a while and it certainly does help to keep the volume of cold calls down (only occasionally will I get a cold-caller who argues with me and insists that I must've agreed to allow their call, sigh).

Anyway, I've been getting quite a few from automated recordings and short of listening to the entire message and hoping that I get some sort of contact number (unlikely as they'll all be premium rate I would've thought), what can I do to stop these?
