Hi All

Just looking for some advice for uploading some of my pictures to the web to display on forums and places such as deviant art etc.

Does anyone have any particular things they do with their pics to make them small enough to upload but keep the image quality etc

Many Thanks

Nick

Well use the Image > Image Size (ALT+Ctrl+I) tool in photoshop and scale it down to a reasonable size, then save it as a high quality jpg.

deviantArt lets you change the scale of the image anyway, only trouble if you dont scale them down using Photoshop or something, you'll be uploading 2-4MB files, which isn't fun.

With Photoshop, Select Save for Web instead of normal save.

Select JPG and set it to about 70%. Don't lose any image quality but makes the image very small :)
Save for web strips the EXIF information from an image, so if you want any detailed C&C, then it's not the thing to do.

I personally just use the image processor in photoshop - File > Scripts > Image Processor. It allows you to set the longest side length and allows control over jpeg quality whilst retaining the EXIF. I generally use 800-1000px longest side and quality 10.

ok great ill take a look at that image processor, i think ideally i will lwant to keep the Exif data if possible

Thanks again

Nick
