Best restaurants in Ediburgh?

My girlfriend and I are looking to get booked into a posh restaraunt in late December.

It doesn't necessarily have to be posh, but we want somewhere that is excellent.

Any suggestions?

The Outsider - excellent, reasonably priced, well situated, great atmosphere. Have been there several times and never disappointed. Looking at £30 a head for 2 courses + wine. Restaurants in post 2 are also excellent but £50+ per head

we ate there during the Fringe, excellent meal, good service.

Hey dude if you like steak then McKirdys steak house is awesome and not too expensive either. Service is world class too and very friendly.
Another couple of options are Gustos in George Street which is very nice and also reasonably priced along with Khushis in Victoria street which has really really nice Indian food.

The Tower, very nice restaraunt situated on the rooftop of the museum in Chambers Street. Very posh, and prices to match.

caprice in mussleburgh, best pizzas anywhere in edinburgh!...ok technically it aint in the burgh.

uhm...have a look at the witchery's sister resturants, eg the tower or what ever its called.
