Spec me a silent psu please

Hi all,

I'm going to be building a new rig around xmas time but I need the new PSU now. I'm gonna get a dual core e8400 chip and a 4500 gfx or something in that region so fairly powerful but I would like it as silent as possible as well as my current one (horrid TRUST brand) is doing my nut in with how much noise its making - fairly sure one of the dual fans is on its way out.

Have a look at the Corsair HX 520, i have one and they are silent.

There's no such thing. Esepcially at full load.

I wouldn't put you off Corsair.

Enermax Modu 82+ PSU's are one of the quietest PSUs around. Unfortunately OcUK seem to be completely out of stock of the 525W and 625W versions.

Zalman HP series. They are a little expensive (but then so are Be Quiet), but I have both a 500W and a 750W. Both are excellent PSUs.

I have a 620W modular jobbie from Corsair. Very nice and quiet. Zalman are pretty cool as well.

Another vote here. My 750w is totally silent. The fan hardly spins up at all.

used to use a silentmaxx passive psu, doesnt get anymore silent than these.

i'd get a bequiet anyday though

i have had a OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply fro about a year and has been very good in the sound department, the only problem is that it is the only light in my rig which i cant turn off

the loudest thing i have is my graphics card - 8800gtx- so do take account of the db of the graphics cards if that is you main priority.

Be a man, slap a Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 on it... and then you'll have no noise at all like mine

I have never heard my Corsair HX620 but if i was buying now i'd try either a Be Quiet or a Zalman. Do either of those have UK RMA procedure? FYI corsair is Holland.

agree with Corsair, Zalman HP, Bequiet, Modu 82, but no one mentioned Seasonic, which by the way make most of the Corsair psu models
