Bagged my self a bargain today

I’m due an eye test, so I went to the David Clulow in Canary Wharf.

Managed to get a discount: conversation worked like this:

Staffer: That will be £326 for the Frames:
Me: Is that your best price:
Staffer: Yes, we don’t do discounts
Me: Oh, that’s a shame I really want those frames. I just think £326 is over priced.
Staffer: be that as it may.
Me: Can I have a copy of my prescription and can I cancel my contact lens fitting.
Staffer: Why?
Me: I have the Make model and Inventory number, I can go to DC in Canada water or Bluewater, and see what they say, I need an incentive to shop here.

I turn around and begin to walk out.

Hand on shoulder time

Manager: Let’s not rush into things.
Me : So what is your best Price?
Manager: 250
Me: ok - will you knock off an additional 2.5% for the Vat decrease
Manager: erm it not usually something we usually do but ok

Sale goes though:
Staffer: So that 240 odd for the frames, and £350 for 1.67 lenses.
Me: I don’t need lenses, frames only please, my friend does lenses for me.

At this point he realizes he won’t be making any money on the lenses, his face dropped, it was a treat.

There was then a very uncomfortable silence while I paid and walked out of the shop with a huge grin on my face and an additional 86 quid in my pocket.

What credit crunch? :D Almost everyone I know says business is booming, and I'm getting credit chucked at me wherever I go (not that I'm actually using it, I'm not daft lol). I did manage to swap my balances onto a Shell Mastercard from Citi last week. 6% off every fuel purchase (then 3% when the offer ends), and 0% interest for 12 months. Woot :D

I was in Africa a few weeks ago. Managed to haggle this local down to to 50dalsais (about a quid) for a wooden giraffe that took her 3 days to make.

woop woop.

Out of interest, did Citi give you an obscene limit on the shell card? I got one recently and they threw an utterly obscene number at me all things considered, wondering if they are doing the same to everyone?
