Top Clown returns Sunday 2nd November 2008 **SPOILERS**

Wasn't fixed at all, a car with 500bhp/ton is very mediocre for that power board, with there being lots of cars far higher than that.

Still made the Zonda look like it was going backwards in the straight line drag despite having a 'mediocre' 500bhp/ton.....

I agree though I never expected the Veyron to be the fastest around the track. To me its more of a compromise between eltimate power (as proven by the drag race) and a car you can actually drive normally / comfortably.

meh, veyron was never going to post a top time on that track, nowhere near enough room for it to stretch its legs. I noticed it was braking even through the follow through which for most cars is flat or a small dab, and it was understeering out of hammerhead.

Most of the top gear track is akin to a Ford Focus on a go kart track when you stick the exotic stuff on there. I want to see a lap where a car isnt bouncing over the finish line after drifting out wide at Gambon aswell!

You'd think after 6 years they'd build a proper track.

But then all the times they have so far become irrelevant!
Don't think they'd be able to have a new track there anyway, and it just wouldn't be the same if they used a real circuit, they certainly wouldn't get away with doing stupid pranks on it all the time.

But all the (super)cars are in the same conditions track wise, so put one against the other and it's still a fair comparison.

Not really when the track and wheelbase are so different. Its a decent enough benchmark but its not the be all and end all of performance.

Tbh the track times are pointless anyway.
Tests are conducted at:
Different times of day
Different track conditions (Water, ice, dry etc)
Different seasons
And most likely a different driver somtimes

Top Gear were denied planning permission to build their own new track back in ’06, so I guess they just stuck with the layout as it stands.

Yea, its an idea on performance but really its nothing concrete. As stated, there are loads of factor's to take into consideration.

he looks like my granddad now enfield.

Sorry everyone but that girl on the right was incredible.

I kept looking at her cuuuute face :(

P.S
Finally some evidence I can use and say HAHA to everyone who bums the bugatti veyron for being 'da best car in da world m8'

On that basis do you think the Gumpert is 'da best car in da world m8' m8? ;)

On that basis, the F1 racing car they had round the track once would be 'da best car in da world m8', as that had the fastest lap time.

The Veyron is a grand tourer, not a racing car. I'm not surprised it wasn't the fastest around a short, twisty track. It would be a lot more pleasant to drive all day in than the Gumpert though, let alone an F1 car.

Just Episode 4 on iplayer.......is it just me, or has James May got his wing mirrors tucked in for most for the journey?

Apologies if this has been mentioned already. :p

I think him and Hammond to try increase fuel economy. I wonder if sales of Bluemotions will jump after this due to ZOMG 70+mpg? I couldnt bring myself to drive that carefully or want to be stuck in one on a motorway to achieve such results.

one of my dad's mates has a bluemotion. his son managed an average of 93mpg down the M1. he did cheat by slipstreaming a truck for most of the journey though..
