Hey all,

Just wondering from those who previously played Call of Duty 4 and bought Call of Duty: World at War, who is planning or has already reverted back to Modern Warfare?

I thought I wouldnt like World at War as much as I do and dont really plan on moving back to Modern Warfare anytime soon, does anyone else feel the same way?

On another note who is planning on going all the way to prestige level 10 in this game even though there is 65 levels in between

Thanks, Sam

I'm bored of both. I liked 4 for a long while but the maps are stale and every single possible angle has been exploited to ****.

I would have loved 5 if not for the tanks and dogs.

Both are great games I've just had my fill.

Personally, I hated WaW.
Borrowed it from a friend completed it in 2 sittings and gave it straight back.
I don't know why but 4 is .........just......better :/

I dont think ill be going back to 4 tbh. Most of the COD4 maps were starting to do my head in after playing them for so long! It was only Vacant and Showdown that I enjoyed playing towards the end, even Broadcast started to get annoying and dont get me started on Creek or Backlot! COD W@W has really grown on me since I first started playing it as my initial impressions were that its a bit half arsed incomparison to 4 (which is it). But Im throughly enjoying it now Ive got into it!

Criticisms are that the weapons arent any where near as good, though obviously as it is WWII and Seelow should be up for worst map in a game ever! Im currently at Prestige Level 1 rank 13 (well on the PS3 in the lounge).

This might be a bit of a shocking statement, but, Im going to play both

With the Mp aspect being so good, Ill simply be influenced by who is playing what and what parties are playing. WaW still has the novelty factor but COD4 is more interesting to me with the modern weapons and the close combat and smaller maps is how modern warfare is now carried out on the battlefield.

Hes a way to sum up WaW single player...

You run, your AI shouts 'AMBUSH' you stay, fight countless enemy AI, that its a sausage fest.

You then get no end of nades coming your way, to only fight that wave off, run a bit more, and repeat the above.

WaW multiplayer, is okay, but no where to the level of COD4. The online maps seem rushed, and the tanks are just imba.

COD4 was/is so much better. IMO

I don't really like playing WaW online much at all. There is no weapon balance when you first start, you run around with all the crap guns while everyone else is just abusing the power of the sph (?? the russian sub machine gun) I don't get why the rifles are so crap in it and why on earth is there even tanks in it.... The only saving grace of the MP is the zombie mode.

Gone back to Halo 3 after all these gimmick shooters with no substance tbh. CoD5's only saving grace is the coop mode which turns a dull game into a surprisingly ok one.

I appreciate your opinion, but, quite how World war 2 and modern weapons and real life attachments and upgrades used by armies all over the world in theatres of war based on true event can be called a gimmick shooter next to Halo 3 is beyond my understanding.

I mean how lacking in story and thought. Germans invade bordering countrys, the japanese invade a US Naval base and brutal Russia take an offensive on the northern borders of Nazi occupied territoritys. What sort of crack pot makes this stuff up that lacks substance including cut scene FMV of war films.

Now i best get back to my lessons, the teacher is using his Spartan laser as the whiteboard pointer as usual. I'd hate to get him annoyed, he might deploy a depletor on me.

:D
I'm just waiting for his reply as he tries to worm himself out of that statement.

Theres nothing wrong with World At War, its just the fact that people have been playing WW2 games longer than the actual war went on for.

The same is true for modern combat games. You could be just as sick of blowing up 'terrorists' with a middle eastern accent.

The reason there are so many war games set in that period is there are so many good accounts of the battle with such varied settings.

I thought I'd had my fill of WW2 films and TV, what more could I possibly need to see until Band Of Brothers came out.

If it's a quality shooter I don't mind if it's set in WW2.

I'd love to know what the Japanese think playing the game though :D Did it sell well over there ;)

Banzai!

As you know we went back to 4 last night for a few games, enjoyed it and can see the benefits of WAW and 4. Like Jonny I will still play both, all depending on what we all play as we have a decent, regular group who game together now.

I like 4 though as I'm much better at it!
