Mercedes SL 350 insurance VERY expensive

This thread probably wouldn't have started if the OP had just got out the Yellow Pages, used google and used all the compare sites and used the forum search function for insurance company names/recommendations [loads of insurance threads on here all recommended the same handful of companies] and went and got as many insurance quotes as possible - this would have gotten him the answer he was looking for - that he can either get insurance for £4000 or insurance for less. Just being lazy imo.

But then how would he have communicated to the entire forum nay the whole world the fact he was going to buy an SL 350?

The point of the thread was to tell us all about his dream, not in fact to get assistance with insurance. Any bafoon can shop car insurance around.

And THIS is why he got the reaction he got.

Had he come on and said 'Hi guys, looking at an SL350 as a possible next car. Any tips/info on running costs, or perhaps recommended insurers for these?' he'd have had a totally different reply

HI GUYS IM 22 GETTING AN SL350 IN 12 YEARS TIME LOL INSURANCE 4k BUT ITS POWERFUL AND BIG

Just get it on 3rd party F&T m8, some young people on here who can't afford ambitious cars did that. It's what OCUK motors recommends, I mean I'm sure your a good driver, you could even handle an elise.

O'RLY?

What does that make you? :p

Well If you read the thread it might help you to understand how A) I'm not intending to go out an buy an M5.. And B) You might learn about how calculated risk works a little bit better...

Yet again, a crappy post for no reason what so ever. Get a hobby mate. If you want to say something constructive then i am all ears but if not then why dont you go and troll somewhere else.

Just thought you might of learnt a bit about the basics of the car you intend on buying.

And what's this about getting a hobby? I'm on a computer hardware forum and I'm posting in the motors forum for a start.. I bet I'm a more interesting person than you :p

I did. It was just a reminder that you also made a thread talking about a rather silly insurance proposal and got shot down yourself. It was just a light hearted dig. Chill.

And so what if he got a bit excited about a dream? Let him fulfil his dream, we all have a bit of a show-off nature to a certain amount, it just seems there is a double standard. The "in" crowd can get away with it, and anybody else is just not worthy.

I'm closing this thread because it's being ruined, and has now become pointless.

Yucca - I wish you luck with your purchase, if you do go for an SL (please tell us about it when you get it), if you're not serious about it, good luck with your car purchase nonetheless.
