Ok, so this is a long story so i will tell you the shortened version here and link back to the original.

Basically I am trying to get TVersity to run on Vista ultimate 64 bit to stream to my ps3. To install you have to have UAC turned off so i am trying to do this with UAC off. When i install it, it works fine, but when i stop it and try and start it again it won't start sharing.

Here is the original thread i made.

Does wmp11 encode the video so pretty much any video file can be streamed to the ps3, even flv?

Also can you set wmp11 to only sharing media with a single ip address, for example the ip address of my ps3 so my laptop can't find it?

the file conversion on Tversity was pretty flaky iirc. You can allow or block individual items on your network to share your files through wmp11. Simply convert mkv's to mpg's using mkv2vob if you're doing hi def.

iirc, if you must use tversity you have to specifically and manually allow the tversity.exe file and the tversitymediaserver.exe file through Windows firewall as I don't believe it does it itself.

any others apart from wmp11? I know that mediatomb is a popular one but that doesn't convert the files.

I dont have any mkv's at the moment, but i have a mixed of different files.

flv, avi and such

my ps3 seems very finicky about which files it will and won't play. Doesn't the 360 just work as an extender so it just passes the codec straight through from Windows?

Ok, so i have given up on TVersity, its not going to work on vista 64bit.

I decided to try FUPPES. I downloaded and got it working. A few files didn't play.(flv and an avi, not sure why, on the ps3 it says mpeg1 or 2).

But i closed it now it won't open. Everytime i try to open it, the icon in the taskbar quickly flashes on and then disappears. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled, but that didn't work. I have uninstalled it turn my pc off and then installed it again, but the same thing happens.

any ideas?

Also if i get FUPPES working can i get it to stream flvs and that avi, just by changing the transcoding in the config file.

Thanks

Have Tversity working fine on vista 64 ultimate straight to a PS3. However, you will need to convert mkv files to vob prior to the PS3 playing them. Check out mkv2vob.

Yea that doesn't help me mate. A lot of people are saying it works for them on vista 64 to ps3. If you can tell me how to fix it then that might be helpful.

sorry its just because ive been messing around with it all day.

Im still looking for help with FUPPES or TVersity if any one knows.

Thanks

Are you running Tversity as an administator ? this is the normal problem with gettign stuff to run under 64 bit Vista.

Also have you followed the step by step guide on Tversity's forum - covers everything you have to do to get it running with a PS3

can't give any specific advice as it worked straight away for me - only problem I've ever had is playing WMA pro encoded video where i can't get *** sound to play bt that's the PS3 not Tversity (i can stream the same video to my touch and it plays sound and vision).

yes im running it as an administrator. and ive seen that guide before. The problem is with the TVersityMediaSharing service. Once its run once it won't run again.
