Ok.. so I've got another x-fi fatal1ty pci (thanks clone :)), and the drivers date back to 2006. Am I best getting the official drivers from Creative or is there a better alternative.

If anyone has some useful links for drivers or ISO's that would be fantastic :)

I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this as well.

Don't wanna hijack, but what's the best drivers/software so that I can use the remote control? I found it again yesterday and it doesn't work with the modded ones that were available a while back.

xfi ones are first, then audigy are the 2nd link

they have terrible terrible forum software, can't see anything clearly!

I think I might check those out.

I'm still using one of the offical X-Fi drivers from creative (about a year old) which I extracted the *.exe and then manually installed the drivers from that.
So I don't have any of the extra creative X-Fi software/control panel that I got when I first installed the creative drivers, which tbh just turning out to be more annoying than of use to me.

I didn't have any issue what so ever with creatives very latest xfi drivers and vista 64 + 4 sticks of ram.

good for you.

(i can't be bothered to find the Buddy Jesus "thanks for the info" pic)

obviously, just because you've never had any issues, NOBODY else who has a Creative X-Fi card and vista could POSSIBLY have issues?

It's good to hear that it's not a universal issue as such. He made clear what the potential errors may have, and made it clear that the regular drivers may also work in that situation, nothing wrong with that :)

I put the PAX drivers on last night and the they work perfectly. I thought I had an issue with the microphone socket not working until I realised I was just being thick (as very tired), and flicked the mic to "ON" on the headset LMAO. D'oh!

With these drivers you get a nice control panel, with no fuss and very easy to use. Some things aren't quite so intuitive but a few seconds of looking will find the required settings :) The only compliant is that compared to the onboard sound, the headphones seem a lot quieter. The sound is definately more balanced though. The good thing is that before noises in World of Warcraft would keep cutting out, as if the onboard sound didn't have enough channels. This X-FI with these drivers just work, with no issues and sound more natural, more directional (CMSS turned on....) and less bassy which is good (there are bass options in the panel).

Flawless install as well, apart from a couple of mandatory restarts with it removing old drivers etc. These drivers at least from a day one view are highly recommended :) (At least for XP pro).

Thankyou bledd..

Thanks :) I'll give it a go see how much difference there is as well. Strangely the surround test is pretty loud whilst in game they are quieter... perhaps that is due to the CMSS doing it's thing however.

Think I know what I need - the entertainment centre. These drivers only contain the console I'm guessing..hmm...

I believe the remote only worked with the media centre from creative, and it never worked with anything else, unless creative had an interface to get it to work with another program.

"Before using the remote, it must be enabled in Creative Entertainment Center or Creative MediaSource."

I'm downloading Media Source V.5 now. Hopefully it should work.

Im using the official creative vista 64 drivers (latest from their site) with 8gb of RAM (4 sticks) and no problems so far. Do these offer any benefit over the originals?
