Call of Duty: World at War

Getting to the cave checkpoint on relentless on Vet is the hardest gaming achievement of my life. I was literally counting blades of grass as I edged up inch by inch :D

Before anyone attempts this make sure they have more than one smoke left!

Wyrdo and trick or tip to get the hell through the section on relentless where you follow the flame tank!

Hide.

That bit was quite annoying, the best bet was to go up the right and hide behind the cover there that has some Japs behind it, I was able to pick off just about everyone from that position and move up to the cave.

I managed to use the one smoke I had to run up trigger a move forward action for my AI and let them pick a few off. That whole level was very very hard. From the instant the level starts and you have to clear out the guns to clearing the caves.

That one checkpoint on the caves has taken me about 3 hours. 8 vet levels to go.

3 levels to go, burnt out for today!

Was dreading corkscrew and blowtorch. Just got to attack the castle now and then those damn last two russian levels.

I saw you online earlier, you were doing one level for bloody ages :D

That could have been my break. I went to buy a roll from the bakers and made a cuppa for the guy doing my patio :D

It was probably on pause, then again probably not ;)

Likely relentless that level took me hours.

Yeah you were definately playing cause it was before you status changed to away by a couple of hours. :p

I did a couple of achievements I needed (lights out and sum of all zeroes) this morning before starting it on veteran, got to the level after the sniper one and changed over to play some Fable :)

You have done the zero's one? What level did you do it on. My mate has been trying off and on all day.

Burn em out the level after the sniper one I think? The start of that is a bitch. Infact the start of most of them are, they don't let you get going on most level starts. It's normally a ballache to the first checkpoint!

Yeah did the Zeros one in about 10 mins, if you think you missed a few planes just reload the checkpoint, first time watch where they come from, reload and then take them down.
I had taken down 45 quite a while before the end of the level, just saved and quit as soon as it was done though.

Not actually started Burn em out yet but I think that is the next level yeah.

Ah right I thought you had to play the whole level through so does my mate. I won't tell him til I've done the achievement ;)

I didn't realise you could reload the CP's I thought you could just start the level again and that was it.

Burn em out was the hardest level for me - the last checkpoint literally took me about 2 hours. Hopefully you guys will see what I mean.

I have to say this is definitely on par with cod 3 at being the hardest game so far on veteran - some of the bits in this game just take the absolute **** and I find myself having to work out strategies for checkpoints I get stuck on.

An example, on the level where you have to clear the Asylum, the bit before that in the courtyard - I would run down there and cover and just get overwhelmed with grenades, this happened for about an hour until I tried waiting 10 seconds and THEN going into the courtyard. By then my guys had taken most of the enemy AI out.

I'm up to blowtorch and corkscrew I think it is? I haven't played campaign since the weekend though - busy making the most out of my week of double xp :D

Fantastic game though, love it to bits - but veteran is starting to take the Michael now

EDIT: Totally agree with you danny about the first checkpoint on burn em out - my goodness that was a pain
