Dear all,

The neighbouring island of Bryher have entered into "The People's Millions" show, which awards lottery grants for equipment and fittings for community projects.

In November 2008 89 projects will go head-to-head in each of the 18 ITV regions. That means 71 winning projects, and 18 bonus awards for the runners-up who score highest in each region

They've just raised £100,000 over the past few years for their community centre, and it has just been finished - although completely bare at the moment!

If you've ever been to Scilly, you know it's a great community place, everyone helps eachother out, and a community centre is a focal point for the island.

If you would be so kind, would you vote for them?

i thought lottery grants went to deprived areas which are badly in need of redevelopment? Or have we sorted out all those areas in the UK - nice

Bryher is the least developed island - it has one hotel, which is owned by Tresco

Just been told we won for the South West, a cheque for £35,000 to kit out the community centre, including a doctor's room (doctor only comes up to the islands once a week!)
