Vista64 Optical Out Soundcard?

I am in the same boat, looking to replace the Audigy 2 Platinum for a modern soundcard with optical out for the Z5500s and good gaming performance. Also needs to work in Vista64 flawlessly.

So far its down to the Asus D2X or the Razer AC1.

Don't get a crappy Razer, read reviews, it has quite a few negatives.

Yeah I can see that. Any particular reason I should go for the D2X over the D1. Seems like both are pretty much equal in games!

Can I ask...

What are the Audigy 2's known issues with Vista?

I got to ask because with my Audigy 2, its absooutely flawless and crisp, and perfect etc etc etc... Only issue it does have, is that every once in a while, it kind of forgets to make a sound when its supposed to and goes silent until I reinstall the drivers.

It sems to be cured now sicne installing the latest ones ( Touch Wood ) although I dont use that system much.

Depends which is the most stable and reliable in Vista 64 with music and games and also offers the best Optical Out source...

I think both drivers are from C-Media, but 8788-based Xonar's driver looks more promising for update service. X-Plosion is using 8770 integrated audio chip instead.

As i know, D2X has even better quality of 118dB SNR for all channels and has more complete I/O including independent Coaxial/Optical combo S/PDIF I/O jacks. It provides extra DTS Connect technology.
