Since buying a new desk my mouse goes haywire, jittering all about and generally not behaving.

I was considering a mouse mat, and this might be a stupid question - but does an optical mouse need a specific optical mat?? Or will a cheapo standard one from the pound shop do?

Optical mice generally don't like clear/reflective surfaces (although some do work on them from what i've heard). Any mousemat will be fine provided it doesn't fall into the above categories.

I use this mat myself: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...t=&name=Boogie Bug AimB.Pad XL Gaming Surface (it seems to be out of stock atm though :()

Gotta say i'm very happy with it, the surface is pretty good and I never run out of mat while gaming :D

+1 for the steelseries Icemat, I've got one and has lasted me years and still smooth as I 1st bought it, works even better with ice skates. I think if you buy an icemat it comes with some the only problem its quite a pricy mouse mat, but you may never need to buy another one for a very very long time.

I have two of the boogie mats (the first link), used one for 10 months and it still looks brand new, second one which is about 7 months old is also fine too!

Its one big mother though..

wow that is rather big mat :)

PS that drink just looks wrong

It's squash

Nice setup fobose! Have a similiar one myself :D (Though with oldschool sammy syncmaster 913n's :p) Wired mouse too; boo!

That mat looks to be exactly what I'm after. Is it tacky (ie your arms 'stick' to it) or is it smooth?

Ant

I often have my arm on it, its not sticky but its not smooth either. Its hard to describe, but I guess its kinda like an old tshirt, slightly rough like.
