Shakhtar: Dinamo Kiev main threat, rest aren't great. Srna, Willian, Fernandinho. £40m spending budget.
Sampdoria: Depends what expectations are, might try if they are mid-table. Poli, Fiorillo, palombo. Italians have crap budget though and tough at top.
German league none favourties: Shalke,etc.
Mexico league looks exciting.
Serie B teams with potential, two big teams being parma and brescia.

I don't want a team where i can never get top quality players in the future, it's a tough mix. Not too high expectations, not easy, but potential to be big.

This is where I really like FM. As in my previous posts, once the game is at an acceptable playing standard, usually by patch 2 I do something similar to yourself. Although you do all the scouting etc yourself when you play as a Premier League team I still consider it cheating that you can buy endless quality players straight away because you are playing in the Premier League.

Shaktar is a team I have never been, purely because there isnt enough competition for them, and they have bundles of cash.

I have enjoyed playing the in the Italian leagues but always play the lower leagues to start with, and even then the majority of their players are of a good standard. I usually play as Padova as they were the first Italian team I ever managed and had good fun with them.

Not managed in Germany before so cannot really comment, but someone on the FM08 thread had success with Schalke and rated them as a good team to play as.

As for the South American leagues, I have considered these but not actually taken the plunge, over on the SI Game Forums someone had a story that they posted following their run in the Argentinian League and it made a good change from the usual reads and the format is a lot different and takes some getting used to.

I always used to enjoy playing in the Swedish League, starting as one of the poorer teams in its lowest available division and working upwards, generally being a team that started with no players. That was the hardest game I have ever played, if I remember I managed to reach 4th in the Swedish Premier League after 10 seasons before giving up. That should give you an insight into how hard it is.

I've narrowed my choice down to these:

Russia: CSKA Moscow / Zenith St. Petersburg
Ukraine: Shakthar / Dinamo Kyiv

German League 2: Frankfurt
Serie B: Parma

******* Man City and their billions, on the trial of one of my stars and now he's unsettled cause they declared interest :/ Grr, even worse is that he as 3 of the squad and 2 of the staff as his favourite personnel, and the club as his favourite team!

Aaaaargh.

I was 3-0 down at Old Trafford in 40 mins, came back to 3-3, and 4 mins added on, one of my DC's who gave away a penalty in the first half, and apparently one was claimed in 2nd, gave away a penalty in 94 mins 24, GRR.

In other news...managed to sign Saviola on a free, and sold Andy Johnson to make space. Just spent £17.25m on keepers too, Asenjo and Akinfeev.

Ive had a brilliant time with this game. I was 16th place after about 14 games with Arsenal. Sold Ade and RVP and got some Arg guy and managed to pull it back to 5th place.

...Then my super strike force both got injured for 5months!!!! And now I am struggling to hold on to 5th place whereas I was challenging the top 4.

I hope I dont get fired as althought I havent done well, I have beat all the top teams and have a fantastic youth team coming through.

id say parma keep it european but try to turn defensive style into free flowing attacking football. Stick spain + agentina as your other leagues, and spanish as your 2nd language then go scout them.

Or stick brazil and portugal as the other 2 leages and portugese as your 2nd language. that way you can recruit from two different leagues very well :)

Is this a good tip? i just thought it up the other day while selecting a team, im undecided ^_^ looking for a decent middle of the table team.

Started a season as my beloved Sheffield Wednesday, bought in a loan player from Fulham, and got a midfielder/left back, he plays both really well.

Going well so far, top 5, playing well.
Been linked with the pompy job :/ don't know if i'll take it or not if they offer it me :<

Who'd you grab from Fulham?

Could be worth having a go at getting a couple of their reserves, as they let them go cheaply in first two seasons.
